Estimating Particle Size for Therapeutic Application of Boron in Proton Therapy using the Finite Element Method [PDF]
Previous measurements have shown large cross sections for the 11B(p,$\alpha$)8Be reaction and K-shell ionization of boron from H+ ions. Past publications have shown that this reaction will likely increase the efficacy of proton therapy. This study investigates the size of boron particles for optimum treatment enhancement in proton therapy.

Proton Pump Inhibitors Therapy in Children with Gastroesophageal Reflux [PDF]
Proton pump inhibitors (PPI) has been widely used by clinicians to treat diseases that require suppression of gastric acid. PPI work by inhibiting the proton pump in gastric parietal cells. In adult patients, PPI hasbeen widely studied and showed ...

Abstract Background The dose‐averaged linear energy transfer (LETD) in proton therapy (PT) has in pre‐clinical studies been linked to the relative biological effectiveness (RBE) of protons. Until recently, the most common PT delivery method in prostate cancer has been double‐scattered PT, with LETD only available through dedicated Monte Carlo (MC ...

Assessment of the proton boron fusion reaction for practical radiation therapy applications using MCNP6 [PDF]
The proton boron fusion reaction, 11B(p, 3{\alpha}), is investigated using MCNP6 to assess the viability for potential use in radiation therapy. The 11B(p, 3{\alpha}) is theoretically desirable because it could combine the localized dose delivery protons exhibit (Bragg peak) with the creation of three high LET {\alpha} particles that locally deposit ...

Proton radiography and tomography with application to proton therapy
Proton radiography and tomography have long promised benefit for proton therapy. Their first suggestion was in the early 1960s and the first published proton radiographs and CT images appeared in the late 1960s and 1970s, respectively. More than just providing anatomical images, proton transmission imaging provides the potential for the more accurate ...

Evaluation of the effect of metal stents on dose perturbation in the carbon beam irradiation field
Abstract Propose Carbon ion therapy is indicated for cases in which stents have been inserted, such as bile ducts, but the effect of metal stents on carbon ion therapy is unclear. In this study, the dose perturbation of carbon ion therapy caused by metallic bile duct stents was evaluated by dosimetry. Materials and methods Five different types of metal
