Total Synthesis and Antimalarial Studies of Caelestines A–C

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Total synthesis of caelestines A–C (alkaloids from the Australian ascidian, Aplidium caelestis) was accomplished, constituting the first synthesis of caelestines B and C. Caelestines A–C, with five other novel quinolones, were assessed against Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 and Dd2. Caelestine B was found to be a selective antimalarial alkaloid. Caelestines

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 6, Page 1087-1101, June 2026.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Continual decision‐making dynamics across biological organisms

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 3, Page 1059-1072, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Decision‐making is a central function of adaptive behaviour in biological agents. However, strategies for adaptive decision‐making can vary substantially across species. Here, we aim to extend the comparative scope of decision‐making analyses to phylogenetically diverse organisms.

"Role of Lectins in Interaction Between Parasites and the Important Insect Vectors"

open access: yesIranian Journal of Public Health, 2002
There is growing evidence that lectin-carbohydrate interactions can mediate the infection of parasites to their insect vector. Many insect species are host or vectors of protozoan or metazoan parasites that cause socially and economically important ...

Monoamine Oxidase and Cholinesterase Inhibition Profiles of Semicarbazone and Thiosemicarbazone Derivatives

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 6, June 2026.
Thiosemicarbazones generally show higher MAO‐B inhibitory potential than their corresponding semicarbazones, and particularly T6 is the most potent, which contains R = H and X = S in its Tail Unit, with an IC50 value of 6.45 µM with SI of 3.6. ABSTRACT Twenty semicarbazone and thiosemicarbazone derivatives (T1–T20) were synthesized and evaluated for ...

Intestinal Parasitic Infections in Marginalized Populations: Prevalence and Risk Factors Among the Bantar Community of Sunsari, Nepal. [PDF]

open access: yesPublic Health Chall
Intestinal parasite infections remain highly prevalent (53.3%) among the Bantar community in Sunsari, Nepal, with Ascaris lumbricoides being the most common parasite and nail‐biting habit identified as a significant risk factor. The findings highlight the urgent need for targeted water, sanitation, hygiene, and health education interventions.

In Silico Evaluation of 5‐Arylidine Glitazone Esters as Potential Antidiabetic Agents: ADMET, Molecular Docking, Dynamics, MMGBSA and DFT Studies

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study presents an in silico evaluation of 5‐Arylidine Glitazone Esters 3ai‐ev as Potential Antidiabetic Agents utilizing ADMET, Molecular Docking, Dynamics, MMGBSA, and DFT Studies. The drug‐like characteristics, safety, binding affinity, stability, free binding energy, and electronic properties of 31 compounds were investigated.

Zooplankton Community Stability and Environmental Filtering in a Shallow Eutrophic Lake

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Anthropogenic pressures led to zooplankton shift to small‐bodied dominance, not structural reorganization. Integrated management is crucial for long‐term resilience. ABSTRACT Zooplankton are key regulators of trophic interactions and nutrient cycling in shallow eutrophic lakes and are sensitive indicators of ecological responses to anthropogenic ...

Parasite strain specificity of precursor cytotoxic T cells in individual animals correlates with cross-protection in cattle challenged with Theileria parva

open access: yes, 1995
Class I major histocompatibility complex-restricted parasite-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) are known to be a major component of the bovine immune response to the protozoan parasite Theileria parva, but formal proof for their role in protection ...
