Emergence of gyrovirus 3 in commercial broiler chickens with transmissible viral proventriculitis

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2018
Gyrovirus 3 (GyV3) has been identified in faeces from children with acute gastroenteritis. However, whether GyV3 is prevalent in poultry has not been determined to date. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to isolate GyV3 from commercial broiler chickens with transmissible viral proventriculitis (TVP) in China.

Proventriculitis in Broiler Chickens: Effects of Immunosuppression

Avian Diseases, 2004
Proventriculitis in broilers causes carcass condemnation when swollen proventriculi tear during evisceration. The cause of this proventriculitis is unknown, but several infectious agents have been associated with it. One such agent, infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV), has been implicated as a cause of proventriculitis, but a direct effect of this ...

Infectious proventriculitis causing runting in broilers

open access: yesAvian Pathology, 1978

A bacterial proventriculitis in canaries(Serinus canaria)

open access: yesAvian Pathology, 1984
A description is given of the pathomorphology and pathomorphogenesis of a bacterial infection of the proventriculus of canaries. The cause appeared to be a large, rod-shaped, Grampositive bacterium, in which no spore formation could be observed. Cultivation in vitro has not as yet been achieved.

Infectious Bursal Disease Virus and Proventriculitis in Broiler Chickens

Avian Diseases, 2003
Acute necrotic proventriculitis is a naturally occurring disease of broiler chickens that causes proventricular rupture during routine evisceration. Although infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) has been implicated, it has not been proven to be a direct cause of this disease.
