A Retrospective Study of Transmissible Viral Proventriculitis in Broiler Chickens in California: 2000–18

Avian Diseases, 2020
Transmissible viral proventriculitis (TVP) is a disease of chickens, mostly in broilers of 2-8 wk of age. Chicken proventricular necrosis virus (CPNV), a birnavirus, is the etiologic agent. Characteristic gross lesions are enlargement, atony, and pallor of the proventriculus.

Viral and Bacterial Agents Associated with Experimental Transmission of Infectious Proventriculitis of Broiler Chickens

Avian Diseases, 2001
Proventriculitis of broilers can be reproduced by oral inoculation of day-old chicks with a proventricular homogenate from affected 3-wk-old broilers. The objective of the following studies was to isolate from this homogenate viral and bacterial isolates that could produce proventriculitis. A monoclonal antibody to infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV)
