The influence of risk factors on bovine leukemia virus infection and proviral load in egyptian cattle

Veterinary Research Communications, 2023
Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) is the etiological agent of enzootic bovine leucosis (EBL), which affects cattle globally. In Egypt, BLV control strategies have been ignored because of the shortage of BLV research studies and the silent infection in most animals.

Quantitation of HTLV-I proviral load by a TaqMan real-time PCR assay

Journal of Virological Methods, 2002
A quantitative real-time PCR assay was developed to measure the proviral load of human T-lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-I) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). The HTLV-I copy number was referred to the actual amount of cellular DNA by means of the quantitation of the albumin gene.

Quantitative PCR as a Tool to Determine the Reticuloendotheliosis Virus–Proviral Load of Fowl Poxvirus

Avian Diseases Digest, 2009
Sequences of the reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV), an avian retrovirus, are integrated into the genome of fowl poxvirus (FPV). We developed and evaluated a quantitative multiplex real-time PCR (multiplex qPCR) assay to determine the REV-proviral load of FPV strains.

Quantitation of HTLV-I and II proviral load using real-time quantitative PCR with SYBR Green chemistry

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Virology, 2004
BackgroundHuman T-lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-I) is linked etiologically with adult T cell leukemia/lymphoma and HTLV-I-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparsis (HAM/TSP).

DETERMINATION OF PROVIRAL LOAD LEVELS IN CATTLE WITH BOVINE LEUKOSIS

Ġylym ža̋ne bìlìm
Proviral load is a crucial diagnostic indicator that helps determine the level of animal infection and assess the risk of disease progression. A high proviralload is associated with a greater likelihood of clinical manifestations and virus transmission within the herd, making this parameter critically important for veterinary ...

Differences in proviral DNA load between HIV-1- and HIV-2-infected patients

AIDS, 2008
The lesser pathogenicity of HIV-2 relative to HIV-1 is generally attributed to its slower replication. To compare the amounts of total HIV DNA during human HIV-1 and HIV-2 infection, we developed a quantitative real-time PCR method with a unique external quantification standard based on a single plasmid harboring both the HIV-1 and the HIV-2 LTR.Viral ...

SYBR Green–based quantitation of human T-lymphotropic virus type 1 proviral load in Peruvian patients with neurological disease and asymptomatic carriers: Influence of clinical status, sex, and familial relatedness

open access: yesJournal of NeuroVirology, 2006
To evaluate the human T-lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) proviral DNA load in patients with HTLV-1-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP) and asymptomatic HTLV-1 carriers, a SYBR Green-based real-time quantitative polymerase chain

Severe strongyloidiasis complicated by meningitis and hydrocephalus in an HTLV-1 carrier with increased proviral load

Journal of Infection and Chemotherapy, 2003
We report a 47-year-old Japanese man who was a human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1) carrier with strongyloidiasis, and who was born in an area endemic for both Strongyloides stercoralis ( S. stercoralis) and HTLV-1. He presented with edema of both legs. Laboratory examination on admission revealed hypoalbuminemia, and S. stercoralis rhabditiform

Potential applications of proviral load measurement in clinical retrovirology.

Journal of acquired immune deficiency syndromes and human retrovirology : official publication of the International Retrovirology Association, 1995
We have previously noted an association between proviral load and the severity of immune disease in individuals with a wide range of CD4 cell counts. Using the quantitative DNA polymerase chain reaction technology developed in our laboratory, we sought to extend these observations, with a view to establishing guidelines for the use of proviral load in ...

HIV-2-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocyte activity is inversely related to proviral load

AIDS, 1995
To characterize HIV-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) activities in HIV-2-infected individuals and to relate these to HIV-2 proviral load.Peripheral blood mononuclear cells were collected from 16 HIV-2-seropositive and four HIV-1/2 dually seropositive subjects.
