Therapeutic Implants: Mechanobiologic Enhancement of Osteogenic, Angiogenic, and Myogenic Responses in Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells on 3D‐Printed Titanium Truss

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 27, October 20, 2025.
This study investigates a synergistic effect between 3D‐printed surface features and mechanical micro‐strain in enhancing the osteogenic, angiogenic, and myogenic responses of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs). Load‐induced mechanotransduction, facilitated by the implant's architectural design, significantly amplifies hMSC differentiation.

Proximal junctional kyphosis in Lenke 5C adolescent idiopathic scoliosis after selective posterior thoracolumbar/lumbar fusion: risk factors and predictive index

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research
Background Although several studies have reported that selective posterior thoracolumbar/lumbar (TL/L) fusion can yield satisfactory results in Lenke 5C adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), the proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK) is still a common ...

Risk factors for proximal junctional kyphosis in idiopathic scoliosis surgery

open access: yesХирургия позвоночника, 2015
Objective. To identify risk factors for development of proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK) in patients with idiopathic sco- liosis operated on using segmental posterior spinal instrumentation. Material and Methods.

The Mechanism and Potential Therapeutic Strategies of Vascular Aging

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, Volume 8, Issue 5, Page 475-492, October 2025.
The phenotypes of vascular aging vary across different blood vessels. Endothelial dysfunction is observable in the endothelium of all vessels, while vascular structural remodeling primarily occurs in arteries. A decline in organ vascular density mainly affects arterioles, venules, and capillaries, whereas thrombosis predominantly occurs in the ...

Risk Factors for Neurological Complications in Severe Spinal Deformity Surgery

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 10, Page 2914-2926, October 2025.
A 52‐year‐old female patient with post‐tubercular kyphotic deformity who underwent one‐stage T8‐10 vertebral column resection via posterior approach. Final full spine x‐rays at the 12‐year follow‐up showed that correction and trunk balance were well maintained.

Efficacy and safety of VEPTR instrumentation for progressive spine deformities in young children without rib fusions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This retrospective study analyses 23 children treated with vertical expandable prosthetic titanium rib (VEPTR) for correction of non-congenital early onset spine deformities. After the index procedure (IP), the device was lengthened at 6-month intervals.

Relationship Between Kyphosis and Postoperative Gastroesophageal Reflux After Proximal Gastrectomy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, Volume 9, Issue 5, Page 964-970, September 2025.
This study examined the relationship between kyphosis and postoperative gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) after proximal gastrectomy using a kyphosis definition that is familiar to surgeons for preoperative assessment. Multivariate analysis revealed that kyphosis is an independent risk factor for GERD after proximal gastrectomy.

Comparison of proximal junctional kyphosis rate according to fusion level

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedics, 2020
There are two main accepted reasons of Proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK) after Scheuermann's kyphosis treatment; overcorrection of initial curve and fusion that is too short proximally. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the incidence of PJK in patients who have been previously treated for Schuermann's kyphosis with a curve exceeding 70° and ...
