Possible therapeutic repositioning of valproic acid: From epileptic seizures to acute kidney injury
Valproic acid, an anticonvulsant, may be repositioned to prevent acute kidney injury due to ischemia followed by reperfusion. It preserves renal functions, electrolyte homeostasis and active sodium transport in kidney tubules, and blocks the onset of hypertension.

ABSTRACT Of the three types of cytoskeleton known in animals—actin, microtubules, and intermediate filaments—only actin and microtubules exist in plants. Both play important roles in cellular shaping, organelle movement, organization of the endomembrane system, and cell signaling.

Streptozotocin induced hyperglycemia in the axolotl
Abstract Background Diabetes is a group of diseases characterized by loss of β cell mass and/or function, resulting in hyperglycemia. With no established curative treatment, this has initiated research in β cell regeneration. Current animal models have either limited regenerative capacity (mice) or small size and evolutionary distance from humans ...

Potassium channels in renal proximal tubule [PDF]
Potassium channels are a diverse family of membrane proteins which are present within all cells of the body. They contain two subunits α, which determine the structure of the channel, and β, which can modify the properties of the channel.
