This study investigates the mechanisms behind the success of selective laryngeal reinnervation surgery in bilateral vocal fold paralysis. In an animal model, the surgery promoted neuromuscular regeneration and restored coordinated vocal fold movement, with no misdirected potentials observed.

Formin isoforms are differentially expressed in the mouse embryo and are required for normal expression of fgf-4 and shh in the limb bud [PDF]
Mice homozygous for the recessive limb deformity (ld) mutation display both limb and renal defects. The limb defects, oligodactyly and syndactyly, have been traced to improper differentiation of the apical ectodermal ridge (AER) and shortening of the ...

We employ freeform printing of thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline) to directly fabricate suspended sacrificial vascular templates within Organ‐on‐a‐chip devices. This enables circular, perfusable channels down to 200 µm without post‐processing.

Actin-dependent cell elongation in teleost retinal rods: requirement for actin filament assembly. [PDF]
Teleost retinal rods elongate when exposed to light. Elongation is mediated by a narrow necklike region called the myoid. In the cichlid Sarotherodon mossambicus, the rod inner segment (composed of the myoid with adjacent ellipsoid) increases in length ...

Ion Channels in Mammalian Proximal Renal Tubules
In the plasma membranes of mammalian proximal renal tubules single ion channels were investigated mainly in isolated tubules perfused on one side, in isolated nonperfused (collapsed) tubules and in primary cell cultures. With these techniques, the following results were obtained: in the luminal membrane of isolated one-sided perfused tubules of rabbit ...

This study elucidates the nephrotoxic mechanism of acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC) by integrating network toxicology, machine learning, and single‑cell multi‑omics analysis to systematically decipher the molecular mechanisms and cell‑type‑specific regulatory networks underlying ATBC‑induced kidney injury. First, a protein‑protein interaction network was

BMP-7 Protein Expression Is Downregulated in Human Diabetic Nephropathy
Bone morphogenetic protein-7 (BMP-7) is expressed in all parts of the normal kidney parenchyma, being highest in the epithelium of proximal tubules. It protects kidney against acute and chronic injury, inflammation and fibrosis.
