Cohomological support loci for Abel-Prym curves

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 2008
For an Abel-Prym curve contained in a Prym variety, we determine the cohomological support loci of its twisted ideal sheaves and the dimension of its theta-dual.

Prym varieties and fourfold covers

open access: yes, 2003
We describe the isotypical decomposition of the Jacobian variety JW of the Galois extension W-->T of any fourfold cover of smooth connected irreducible projective complex curves X-->T, in terms of Prym's of intermediate covers. We also compute the degree of the isogenies involved and as a result we obtain new proofs of the bigonal and trigonal ...

The Schottky problem in genus five [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, we present a solution to the Schottky problem in the spirit of Schottky and Jung for genus five curves. To do so, we exploit natural incidence structures on the fibers of several maps to reduce all questions to statements about the Prym ...

Prym varieties and Teichmüller curves [PDF]

open access: yesDuke Mathematical Journal, 2006
A Teichmüller curve \(V \subset M_{g}\) is a totally geodesic algebraic curve in the moduli space of Riemann surfaces of genus \(g.\) We say \(V\) is primitive if it is generated by an abelian differential of minimal genus. Every Teichmüller curves has a unique primitive representative in its commensurability class.

Extending the Prym map to toroidal compactifications of the moduli space of abelian varieties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The main purpose of this paper is to present a conceptual approach to understanding the extension of the Prym map from the space of admissible double covers of stable curves to different toroidal compactifications of the moduli space of principally ...

Pseudoreflections on Prym Varieties

open access: yes
We show that for every g greater or equal than 5, the locus of Prym varieties in the moduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties of dimension g-1 that possess a pseudoreflection of geometric origin is the union of three different non-empty explicit irreducible families.

Prym Varieties and Integrable Systems

open access: yes, 1992
A new relation between Prym varieties of arbitrary morphisms of algebraic curves and integrable systems is discovered. The action of maximal commutative subalgebras of the formal loop algebra of GL(n) defined on certain infinite-dimensional Grassmannians is studied. It is proved that every finite-dimensional orbit of the action of traceless elements of

Polarization types of isogenous Prym-Tyurin varieties

open access: yes, 2007
Let p:C-->Y be a covering of smooth, projective curves which is a composition of \pi:C-->C' of degree 2 and g:C'-->Y of degree n. Let f:X-->Y be the covering of degree 2^n, where the curve X parametrizes the liftings in C^{(n)} of the fibers of g:C'-->Y.
