Accurate and noninvasive prostate cancer detection using plasma‐derived extracellular vesicle RNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plasma extracellular vesicles were captured with WGA‐conjugated magnetic beads and profiled for RNA biomarkers. A three‐RNA panel (NM_024955, NR_047469, and NR_002564) distinguished prostate cancer from healthy controls and benign prostatic hyperplasia, supporting a simple, noninvasive approach to improve prostate cancer detection.

Associations Between PSA Levels and Erectile Dysfunction in the Patient with LUTS

open access: yesMedicine Science, 2016
Erectile dysfunction (ED) are common problem in males with lower urinary tract symptoms suggestive (LUTS).The aim of this study is to evaluate whether there is an association between PSA levels and ED or not. This study included total of 54 males aged 45-

Structural and biochemical insights into the thermostable esterase Ta0887 from Thermoplasma acidophilum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, a novel esterase from the thermoacidophilic archaeon Thermoplasma acidophilum was biochemically and structurally characterized. Our results demonstrate that Ta0887 is a highly thermostable esterase that preferentially hydrolyzes p‐nitrophenyl hexanoate and possesses an α‐helical cap domain that likely contributes to its substrate ...

Combination of singularly perturbed vector field method and method of directly defining the inverse mapping applied to complex ODE system prostate cancer model

open access: yesJournal of Biological Dynamics, 2018
We propose a new method to solve a system of complex ordinary differential equations (ODEs) with hidden hierarchy. Given a complex system of the ODE, the hierarchy of the system is generally hidden.

Potentiometric stripping analysis of lead and cadmium leaching from dental prosthetic materials and teeth [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2004
Potentiometric stipping analysis (PSA) was applied for the determination of lead and cadmium leaching from dental prosthetic materials and teeth. The soluble lead content in finished dental implants was found to be much lower than that of the individual ...

PSA – Quo vadis?

open access: yesDer Urologe, 2009
Prostate cancer is the most frequent cancer in males. Because of the high cure rates, early detection of prostate cancer should identify organ-confined prostate cancers. An early detection examination should be performed annually starting at the age of 50 years and ending when life expectancy is less than 10 years.

A new modification of the chiron ACS assay for total prostate-specific antigen achieves equimolar response characteristics and improves the detection of prostate cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Nonequimolar-response assays for prostate-specific antigen (PSA) are criticized for overestimating total PSA in some men without prostate cancer (PCA), and underestimating total PSA in some men with PCA.
