Preclinical Diagnosis of Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1987Although the diagnosis of pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PXS) is made by observation of pseudoexfoliation material (PXM) deposited on the anterior lens capsule, there are several additional signs related to pigment dispersion that are often present both in eyes with PXS and fellow eyes in unilateral cases.

Klinische Monatsblätter für Augenheilkunde, 1991
The Frequency of the Pseudoexfoliation-Syndrom (= PES) was investigated about two months in a prospective study of 1069 patients in the university eye hospital of Zurich. 7.35% of these patients had a PES with or without glaucoma. Among the clinic patients there were 9.9% and among the policlinic patients 6.26%.

Apolipoprotein E Genotypes in Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome and Pseudoexfoliation Glaucoma
Journal of Glaucoma, 2010Pseudoexfoliation (PEX) syndrome, an age-related, systemic, elastic microfibrillopathy, is characterized by fibrillar-granular deposits in the anterior segment of the eye. Although not representing a true amyloidosis, PEX syndrome shares some features with amyloid disorders, such as Alzheimer disease.
