Study on the Community Characteristics of the Endogenous Microbiome in Earthworm Cocoons in Composting Systems with Different Base Materials. [PDF]
This study investigates earthworm cocoons as key vectors for the vertical transmission of symbiotic bacteria, a process that profoundly shapes the gut microbiota of offspring and influences their environmental adaptability.

Rainfall Shapes the Diversity of Soil Nitrogen‐Fixing Microorganisms Worldwide
This study reveals the distinctive pattern and mechanism of rainfall driving the global biodiversity and biogeography of soil potential N‐fixing microorganisms, and constructs the theoretical framework. The results guide us on how to maintain ecosystem productivity under future climate changes (e.g., whether a specific region needs more N fertilizers ...

Beyond Probiotics: Postbiotics for Healthy Aquaculture
This critical review assesses limitations of probiotics and proposes postbiotics, preparations of inanimate microorganisms and their metabolites, as a more stable, controlled, and biosafe formulation. Postbiotics offer significant advantages during industrial aquafeed production and storage. However, their practical implementation is currently hindered

An intelligent engineered probiotic platform is developed for the precision management of inflammatory bowel disease. By integrating surface‐displayed adhesins with an inflammation‐responsive CAT‐SOD‐GPx tripartite fusion system and mucosal repair factors, this programmable system achieves prolonged intestinal retention and multi‐pronged therapy.

Objective Microbial small RNAs can regulate human genes. Higher plasma concentrations of microbial transfer RNA (tRNA)‐derived RNA‐1 (tDR‐1) were previously associated with lower rheumatoid arthritis (RA) disease activity. This study examined whether tDR‐1 concentrations differ in anticyclic citrullinated peptide‐3 positive (CCP3+) at‐risk individuals (

The theory of island biogeography (TIB) remains contentious for microbes, as their immense dispersal potential and microscopic size may decouple diversity from classic isolation/area effects. We explicitly tested TIB scaling rules for soil bacteria and fungi across 20 oceanic islands using a rigorous multi‐scale framework that integrated high ...

Vaginal host–microbe signatures linked to placental outcomes in mares
Abstract Background Ascending placentitis is a leading cause of late‐term pregnancy loss in mares. Although pathogens are presumed to ascend from the caudal reproductive tract, the association between the vaginal microbiome and placentitis has not been systematically examined.

Bacteremia in horses undergoing routine dental prophylaxis: Before, during, and after the procedure
Abstract Background Transient bacteremia after dental procedures is well‐documented in the literature, but the prevalence and clinical significance in horses remains largely unexplored. Objectives To assess whether routine dental prophylaxis in clinically healthy horses is associated with detection of bacteria in blood, using culture and 16S rDNA ...
