Metal–Organic Framework‐Based Antimicrobial Touch Surfaces to Prevent Cross‐Contamination

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A MOF‐based antimicrobial door handle cover is developed. It completely inhibits the cross‐contamination of Gram‐positive bacterial species (Staphylococcus aureus, and Enterococcus faecalis), Gram‐negative bacterial species (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter baumannii), and fungi (Candida albicans). Abstract Infection diseases

Strategies for administration of biosurfactants-producing pseudomonads in closed hydroponic systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Zoospore-producing oomycetes are major plant pathogens of particular concern in hydroponic systems. Compared with pesticides, biocontrol using antagonistic microorganisms is a sustainable approach to control oomycetes.

Synonymy of Pseudomonas coronafaciens, Pseudomonas coronafaciens pathovar zeae, Pseudomonas coronafaciens subsp. atropurpurea, and Pseudomonas striafaciens [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic Bacteriology, 1979
Eleven strains of Pseudomonas coronafaciens, four strains of P. coronafaciens pathovar zeae, six strains of P. coronafaciens subsp. atropurpurea, two strains of P. striafaciens, and one Pseudomonas sp. were compared by physiological, biochemical, serological, and pathological tests.

From Mechanoelectric Conversion to Tissue Regeneration: Translational Progress in Piezoelectric Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent progress in piezoelectric materials for regenerative medicine, emphasizing their ability to convert mechanical stimuli into bioelectric signals that promote tissue repair. Key discussions cover the intrinsic piezoelectric properties of biological tissues, co‐stimulation cellular mechanisms for tissue regeneration, and ...

Simultaneous effects of different levels of indole butyric acid and inoculation with growth promoting bacteria on some growth and biochemical traits of olive (Olea europaea L.) scion [PDF]

open access: yesفیزیولوژی محیطی گیاهی, 2019
In order to investigate the effect of different levels of IBA and strains of Pseudomonas fluorescens bacteria, an experiment was conducted as factorial with completely randomized design containing two factors and three replications.

Engineered probiotic Escherichia coli can eliminate and prevent Pseudomonas aeruginosa gut infection in animal models

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Bacteria can be genetically engineered to kill specific pathogens or inhibit their virulence. We previously developed a synthetic genetic system that allows a laboratory strain of Escherichia coli to sense and kill Pseudomonas aeruginosa in vitro.

Advancements in Carbon‐Based Piezoelectric Materials: Mechanism, Classification, and Applications in Energy Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon‐based piezoelectric materials are systematically categorized based on their structural and functional properties. The mechanisms of stress‐induced charge transfer are elucidated, and their applications are explored across three key domains: piezoelectric catalysis for energy conversion and environmental remediation, piezoelectric biomedical ...

Maintenance of Microbial Cooperation Mediated by Public Goods in Single- and Multiple-Trait Scenarios [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Microbes often form densely populated communities, which favor competitive and cooperative interactions. Cooperation among bacteria often occurs through the production of metabolically costly molecules produced by certain individuals that become ...

Natural Design of a Stabilized Cross‐β Fold: Structure of the FuA FapC from Pseudomonas Sp. UK4 Reveals a Critical Role for Stacking of Imperfect Repeats

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report a 3.2 Å cryoEM structure of functional amyloid protein FapC from Pseudomonas sp. UK4, an essential component of bacterial biofilm, which reveals a Greek key‐shaped protofilament, supports bioinformatically determined motifs, nuances AlphaFold predictions, emphasizes heterogeneous cross‐β stacking in amyloid cross‐seeding and shows strain ...
