Cytokinins Promote Rust Susceptibility in Poplar by Suppressing Defence Signalling, Reducing Defence Accumulation and Reprogramming Primary Metabolism

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cytokinins (CKs), classically recognised as plant growth regulators, are increasingly implicated in plant‐microbe interactions. Studies in herbaceous plants suggest that CKs can function as signalling molecules with dual roles in plant defence, either restricting or facilitating pathogen infection.

Rhizosphere Microbiomes Respond to Plant‐Parasitic Nematode Cues and Contribute to Host Defence

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plant‐parasitic nematodes (PPNs) cause major crop losses, while current nematicides face increasing regulatory restrictions and often show inconsistent efficacy. We tested whether nematode‐associated cues activate rhizosphere microbiomes and cuticle‐associated fungi to produce suppressive metabolites that impair nematodes and stimulate host ...

Antimicrobial resistance of Pseudomonas spp. isolates from milk

open access: yes
The genus Pseudomonas is one of the most diverse bacterial genera, containing ubiquitous and metabolically versatile bacteria. Considering its complexity, the antimicrobial resistance problem must be discussed multidisciplinary.

The effects of far‐UVC irradiation on the presence and concentration of ESKAPEE pathogens on hospital surfaces: Study protocol for a multi‐site, double‐blinded randomized controlled trial in La Paz, Bolivia

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
The protocol of a multi‐site, double‐blinded, clustered randomized controlled trial (cRCT) with a binary outcome of the presence of viable presumptive ESKAPEE pathogens on surfaces in and around hospital sinks is to be implemented in two Bolivian hospitals.

233 nm far‐UV‐C radiation for biofilm inactivation

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Based on tests to assess biofilm formation potential (crystal violet staining, color of colonies grown on Congo red agar and calcofluor agar), three bacterial genera/species/strains (Staphylococcus (S.) epidermidis, S. aureus, Pseudomonas (P.) aeruginosa) were selected for analysis of their biofilm matrix composition.
