A surgical cause of pseudopapilledema

open access: hybridMalaysian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
We report a case of vitreopapillary traction mimicking optic disc swelling in a 73-year-old female with pseudophakia in the left eye and satisfactory postoperative vision of 6/6 and N5 two years prior. She presented with insidious onset of blurred vision in her left eye for two months.

Performance of vision language models for optic disc swelling identification on fundus photographs. [PDF]

open access: yesFront Digit Health
IntroductionVision language models (VLMs) combine image analysis capabilities with large language models (LLMs). Because of their multimodal capabilities, VLMs offer a clinical advantage over image classification models for the diagnosis of optic disc ...

Peripapillary Hyperreflective Ovoid Mass-Like Structure as an Optic Disc Pseudo-Edema Case Report and Review. [PDF]

open access: yesCase Rep Ophthalmol Med
Background The peripapillary hyperreflective ovoid mass‐like structure (PHOMS) has been defined by the Optic Disc Drusen Studies (ODDS) Consortium as a distinct finding separate from the optic disc drusen (ODD). Given that PHOMS is neither a precursor nor subtype of ODD, its role as an independent risk factor for optic nerve diseases and its secondary ...

Application of Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography in True and Pseudo-Optic Disc Swelling. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Ophthalmol
Purpose. We evaluated the optic disc microvasculature in healthy subjects and patients with optic nerve head drusen (ONHD), active papilledema, and acute nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). Methods.

Fundus imaging and perimetry in patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension—an intermethod and interrater validity study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 30, Issue 7, Page 1973-1982, July 2023., 2023
Abstract Background and purpose There is a need to improve the diagnostic process of patients suspected of papilledema. In patients with known or suspected idiopathic intracranial hypertension a fundus imaging and perimetric visual field assessment system (COMPASS) performed at a headache center was validated in comparison to an assessment (Topcon plus

The Role of Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography in Optic Nerve Head Edema: A Narrative Review

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Optic nerve head (ONH) edema is a clinical manifestation of many ocular and systemic disorders. Ocular and central nervous system imaging has been used to differentiate the underlying cause of ONH edema and monitor the disease course. ONH vessel abnormalities are among the earliest signs of impaired axonal transportation.
