Stable measurement of chemistry, immunochemistry, and hematology analytes in a heparin‐based anticoagulant with iloprost additive: A promising candidate for the polyvalent blood collection tube

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, Volume 46, Issue 5, Page 809-821, October 2024.
Abstract Introduction A polyvalent blood collection tube could potentially reduce the number and volume of blood samples drawn from patients and reduce the risk of tube mix‐ups in a point‐of‐care setting in the emergency department and the intensive care unit. Methods Four different concentrations of our experimental heparin anticoagulant with iloprost

[Pseudothrombocytopenia].

open access: yesActa haematologica Polonica, 1992
Pseudothrombocytopenia in four patients has been described. It was due to platelet "++EDTA-dependent" antibodies. The number of platelets was described only in EDTA blood while the number was normal when platelet were evaluated in citrate blood. The importance of distinguishing pseudothrombocytopenia from thrombocytopenia is discussed, especially in ...

Pseudothrombocytopenia Associated With Infectious Mononucleosis

open access: yesArchives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, 2003
Abstract A 22-year-old man was hospitalized for assessment of thrombocytopenia and fever. Examination showed that he had infectious mononucleosis and moderately severe thrombocytopenia that was asymptomatic. Examination of blood smears revealed that the thrombocytopenia was caused by the clumping of platelets.

Estimation of Platelet Counts and Other Hematological Parameters in Pseudothrombocytopenia Using Alternative Anticoagulant: Magnesium Sulfate

open access: yesClinical Medicine Insights: Blood Disorders, 2017
The platelet count, mean platelet volume, and other hematological parameters were compared in blood samples anticoagulated with MgSO 4 and EDTA. A total of 15 samples were taken, and the platelet counts were observed to be significantly high in MgSO 4 ...

Pseudothrombocytopenia in a neonate due to mother [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pediatrics, 2013
Korter ink et al . [1] brought to the at tent ion of pseudothrombocytopenia in a newborn whose mother also had had this diagnosis. I would like to add peripheral smear examination to the authors’ studies which would be most helpful for this diagnosis. In addition, it would give us information on the morphology of the platelets which is as important as ...

Insights from Histogram and Flag Analysis in Pseudothrombocytopenia Cases: A Single-centre Cross-sectional Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Introduction: Pseudothrombocytopenia (PTCP), also known as Spurious Thrombocytopenia (TCP), is a common problem encountered in many laboratories. When stable patients are evaluated for thrombocytopenia, the first step is to exclude PTCP.

A practical and case-based approach to thrombocytopenia in cardiology practice

open access: yesTürk Kardiyoloji Derneği Arşivi, 2018
In cardiology practice, anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapies are essential for most patients. As of yet, there is no high quality evidence regarding these treatments in thrombocytopenic patients, which continues to be an issue.

An isolated case of pseudothrombocytopenia due to platelet satellitism with the review of literature

open access: yesAnnals of Medical Science and Research
Platelet interaction with neutrophil polymorphs happens rarely, forming platelet aggregates like rosettes/beads around neutrophils, an uncommon phenomenon called ‘platelet satellitism’ (PS).

First Report of Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid-Dependent Pseudo-Thrombocytopenia in Chile: Prevalence and Laboratory Insights

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background: Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid-dependent pseudo thrombocytopenia (EDTA-PCTP) is defined as a false in vitro decrease in the platelet count performed in the EDTA tube due to the spontaneous formation of platelet aggregates that prevent a ...
