Psilocybin Production With Genetically Modified Aspergillus nidulans Under Pressurized Conditions

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 4, Page 886-898, April 2026.
Shake flask cultures of psilocybin‐producing A. nidulans were investigated with respect to nitrogen source, rheology, power input, and oxygen availability, and subsequently scaled to a stirred tank reactor scale based on specific power input to develop and optimize a pressurized bioprocess.

Psycholytic Therapy Using LSD: a Realist Review

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Psycholytic therapy using d‐lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) appears safe and therapeutically effective when delivered with strong therapeutic trust, extensive preparation, and more than ten sessions. Flexible, relationally focused methods and creative integration work are associated with better outcomes and reduced adverse events.

Not a Standalone Treatment: Considerations for Psychedelic‐Assisted Therapy

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
External therapists play a pivotal role in supporting patients undergoing psychedelic‐assisted therapy (PAT), offering continuity of care, support, and integration. Co‐operation and collaboration between external therapists and PAT teams is vital to ensure patient safety and optimal treatment outcomes.

A Single Dose of a Psychedelic Drug Repairs Prefrontal Cortex Synaptic Physiology in a Mouse Model of Prenatal Alcohol Exposure

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
A single administration of the psychedelic drug 25CN‐NBOH repairs synaptic physiology and intrinsic excitability of prefrontal cortex layer 5 (L5) pyramidal cells in adolescent mice following prenatal alcohol exposure. ABSTRACT Background Prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) can cause fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs), which are characterized by ...

Specific and Multi‐Product Clade I and Clade IV Sesquiterpene Synthases Contribute to the Psilocybe cubensis Volatilome

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 8, April 2026.
Five sesquiterpene synthases of Psilocybe cubensis were investigated in vitro and in vivo. CubF is a clade I synthase producing α‐muurolol, whereas clade IV synthases CubG1 and CubG2 produce epi‐isozizaene and β‐duprezianene. Further clade IV synthases CubH and CubI primarily make dauca‐4(11),8‐diene and β‐barbatene, respectively.

Astrocytes as central integrators of neural circuit function: Mechanisms and dysregulation in neuropsychiatric disorders

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
1. Astrocytes are central integrators of neural circuit function through tripartite synapse modulation and neurovascular coupling. 2. Dysregulation of glutamate/GABA homeostasis and neuroinflammation represents shared mechanisms across diverse neuropsychiatric disorders. 3.

The Idealist View of Consciousness After Death [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
To make educated guesses about what happens to consciousness upon bodily death, one has to have some understanding of the relationship between body and consciousness during life. This relationship, of course, reflects an ontology.
