Urinary tract infection‐related delirium in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias: Clinical challenges and translational opportunities

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) affects millions of patients worldwide and is a leading cause of morbidity in older adults. Patients with ADRD are particularly susceptible to developing urinary tract infection (UTI) and UTI‐related delirium, creating a self‐perpetuating cycle in which ADRD increases vulnerability to infection ...

Involvement of Adenosine A2A Receptors in Anxiety‐Like Behaviors in Tetrahydrocannabinol‐Treated Mice

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study evaluated anxiety‐like behavior in mice across treatment and control groups using open field and elevated plus maze tests, followed by hippocampal receptor gene expression analysis. The combined behavioral and molecular data identify potential receptor‐level mechanisms underlying the observed treatment‐associated behavioral changes. ABSTRACT

Anti‐NMDA Receptor Encephalitis Presenting as Acute Psychosis

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Young adults presenting with acute psychiatric symptoms followed by rapid neurological decline, catatonia, and autonomic instability should prompt consideration of anti–NMDA receptor encephalitis, even without detectable tumors; early recognition and immunotherapy are critical for favorable neurological recovery.

Double‐Duty Drugs: Repositioning Antipsychotics to Combat Bacterial Infections

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 2, February 2026.
Antipsychotics can exert antibacterial effects via several mechanisms: (1, 2) Due to their amphiphilic and cationic characteristics, antipsychotics can negatively affect the integrity of the plasma membrane by disrupting its structure and electrochemical potential.

Heat Therapy: Targeting Health, Disease, and Disability

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 1, February 2026.
The predominance of evidence suggests heat therapy has an impact on all aspects of health and performance, but the drivers of that improvement, the extent to which they are improved, and the specific populations in which improvements manifest are far from completely understood.

Effective Connectivity Reveals Dual‐Route Mechanism of Visual Prediction Precision via Insula and Pulvinar

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 2, February 1, 2026.
Using 7‐Tesla fMRI and dynamic causal modelling (DCM), we identified a dual‐route mechanism for high‐precision predictions: direct excitatory modulation from the insula to V1, and indirect inhibitory modulation from the insula to V1 via the pulvinar.

Positive Side‐Effects of Psychotherapy: The Influence of Cognitive‐Behavioral Therapy on Self‐Concept in Patients With Panic Disorder

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Psychology, Volume 82, Issue 2, Page 180-188, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Past studies show a strong association of the self‐concept (SC) and symptom burden for many mental disorders including anxiety disorders. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a highly effective treatment for anxiety disorders that has also been shown to improve SC in patients suffering from such.
