Violence in Treatment Resistant Psychotic Inpatients
The Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease, 2001This study sought to: a) ascertain the effect on rates of violence by varying its operational definition and b) compare characteristics of violent and nonviolent patients. Aggressive behavior was recorded daily for every patient (N = 78) during a 2-year period. Standardized rating scales were used to rate psychopathology and functioning.

Positive and negative symptoms in neuroleptic-free psychotic inpatients.
Schizophrenia Research, 1995Andreasen's scales for the assessment of positive (SAPS) and negative (SANS) symptoms and the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) were administered to a group of 70 neuroleptic-free psychotic inpatients. Individual ratings from the SAPS and SANS, together with the 18-item BPRS, were examined to identify clusters of symptoms.

Psychotic symptoms in mood disorders: Evaluation of 159 inpatients
European Psychiatry, 1996 The authors investigated the historical and clinical variables of 159 inpatients affected by mood disorders in order to identify variables which might differentiate psychotic from non-psychotic forms. The results showed that 32% of the patients had psychotic symptoms.
