Substrate‐binding glycine residues are major determinants for hydrolase and ligase activity of plant legumains

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 238, Issue 4, Page 1534-1545, May 2023., 2023
Summary Peptide asparaginyl ligases (PALs) are useful tools for precision modifications of proteins and live‐cell surfaces by ligating peptides after Asn/Asp (Asx). They share high sequence and structural similarity to plant legumains that are generally known as asparaginyl endopeptidases (AEPs), thus making it challenging to identify PALs from AEPs ...

Coevolution as an engine of biodiversity and a cornucopia of ecosystem services

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 3, Issue 1, Page 61-73, January 2021., 2021
Coevolutionary processes, which have governed interactions between organisms throughout the history of life, also serve as an engine of ecosystem services for humans. The escalating arms races between plants and herbivores, flowers and pollinators, have generated a cornucopia of foods, raw materials, perfumes, spices, ornamentals, medicines, and drugs.

Germinação in vitro e organogênese direta em explantes hipocotiledonares com polaridade invertida de Psychotria ipecacuanha (Brot.) Stokes

open access: hybridRevista Fitos, 2013
This study aimed to seed germination and adventitious shoot regeneration from Psychotria ipecacuanha inverted hypocotyls. The results showed a percentage of 84.17% of seeds germinated with normal seedlings development. The germination started after the second day of cultivation and was observed up to 70 days.

Production, Transmission, Pathogenesis, and Control of Dengue Virus: A Literature‐Based Undivided Perspective

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
Dengue remains one of the most serious and widespread mosquito‐borne viral infections in human beings, with serious health problems or even death. About 50 to 100 million people are newly infected annually, with almost 2.5 billion people living at risk and resulting in 20,000 deaths.

Genetic diversity and geographic differentiation of disjunct Atlantic and Amazonian populations of Psychotria ipecacuanha (Rubiaceae)

open access: closedGenetica, 2008
Ipecac (Psychotria ipecacuanha) is a perennial, medicinal herb that grows in the understory of semi-deciduous tropical forests in the Neotropics. Ipecacs present a widely disjunct distribution, with two of its three ranges occurring in Brazil. The Amazonian populations are at least 1600 km from the nearest Atlantic populations.
