A review on age‐related cancer risks in PTEN hamartoma tumor syndrome

open access: yesClinical Genetics, 2021
This review summarizes the evidence on age‐related cancer risks for PHTS patients. Females have predominantly a strong increased risk and earlier age at onset for breast, endometrial, and thyroid cancer, and males for thyroid cancer. The risks of other PHTS‐associated cancers are uncertain.

Subcellular targeting and dynamic regulation of PTEN: implications for neuronal cells and neurological disorders

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2014
PTEN is a lipid and protein phosphatase that regulates a diverse range of cellular mechanisms. PTEN is mainly present in the cytosol and transiently associates with the plasma membrane to dephosphorylate PI(3,4,5)P3, thereby antagonizing the PI3-Kinase ...

Brain patterning perturbations following PTEN loss

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2014
This review will consider the impact of compromised PTEN signaling in brain patterning. We approach understanding the contribution of PTEN to nervous system development by surveying the findings from the numerous genetic loss-of-function models that have

Follicular thyroid carcinoma metastatic to skin: a small papule and a big diagnostic change [PDF]

open access: yesAnais Brasileiros de Dermatologia, 2019
: Cutaneous metastases are uncommon in daily practice, although very important, since they may be the first manifestation of an undiscovered primary neoplasm or the first indication of recurrence.

The impact of PIK3CA mutations and PTEN expression on the effect of neoadjuvant therapy for postmenopausal luminal breast cancer patients

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2023
Background There is pressing needs to find the biomarker in the selection of neoadjuvant therapy in postmenopausal luminal breast cancer patients. We examined the hypothesis that PIK3CA mutations and low phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) expression ...

Global gene expression analysis of pigeonpea with male sterility conditioned by A2 cytoplasm

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 14, Issue 3, November 2021., 2021
Abstract Cytoplasmic male sterility(CMS), a maternally inherited trait, provides a promising means to harness yield gains associated with hybrid vigor. In pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Huth], nine types of sterility‐inducing cytoplasm have been reported, of which A2 and A4 have been successfully deployed in hybrid breeding.

Loss of PTEN expression and AKT activation in HER2-positive breast carcinomas [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ginecologia e Obstetrícia, 2014
PURPOSE: To examine the expression of AKT and PTEN in a series of HER2-positive primary invasive breast tumors using immunohistochemistry, and to associate these expression profiles with classic pathologic features such as tumor grade, hormone receptor ...

The roles of mutated SWI/SNF complexes in the initiation and development of hepatocellular carcinoma and its regulatory effect on the immune system: A review

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 53, Issue 4, April 2020., 2020
Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a primary liver malignancy with a high global prevalence and a dismal prognosis. Studies are urgently needed to examine the molecular pathogenesis and biological characteristics of HCC. Chromatin remodelling, an integral component of the DNA damage response, protects against DNA damage‐induced genome ...
