Predisposing factors for recurrence of chronic posttraumatic osteomyelitis: a retrospective observational cohort study from a tertiary referral center in Brazil

open access: yesPatient Safety in Surgery, 2017
Background The incidence of posttraumatic osteomyelitis (PTO) is increasing despite new treatment strategies. Assessment of patients’ outcomes following PTO is challenging due to multiple variables.

The Influence of Sizing of Wave Energy Converters on the Techno-Economic Performance

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
Currently, the techno-economic performance of Wave Energy Converters (WECs) is not competitive with other renewable technologies. Size optimization could make a difference.

MPPT Control of Hydraulic Power Take-Off for Wave Energy Converter on Artificial Breakwater

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
Wave energy is a renewable energy source that is green, clean and has huge reserves. In order to develop wave energy resources, an oscillating buoy Wave Energy Converter (WEC) device based on the artificial breakwater is presented in this paper. In order

Allosteric Regulation of Photophysics and Binding in Oxazine‐macrocycle Complexes at Single‐molecule Resolution

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This work explores the interactions between the oxazine dye ATTO655 and two macrocyclic hosts using optical (single‑molecule) spectroscopy. Although ATTO655 forms a classical inclusion complex with cucurbit[8]uril (CB8), its interaction with p‑sulfonatocalix[4]arene (sCX4) leads to the formation of dim exclusion complexes.

Study on Optimum Power Take-Off Torque of an Asymmetric Wave Energy Converter in Western Sea of Jeju Island

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
This study primarily investigates an optimum energy conversion efficiency of asymmetric wave energy converter (WEC). A power take-off (PTO) system that provides a constant load torque opposite to pitch motion was implemented.

CO2‐Induced Reverse Lattice Oxygen Spillover on Pt/CeO2 Enables Sulfur‐Resistant Dry Reforming of Methane

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A critical step, dry reforming of methane (DRM) converts biogas into useful syngas. Yet trace H2S in biogas rapidly poisons DRM catalysts, limiting practical use. We developed a robust Pt/CeO2 catalyst sustaining DRM activity via CO2‐induced reverse lattice oxygen spillover in H2S‐rich environments.

Association Genetics in Populus Reveal the Allelic Interactions of Pto-MIR167a and Its Targets in Wood Formation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play crucial regulatory roles in plant growth and development by interacting with RNA molecules, including messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs); however, the genetic networks of miRNAs and their targets influencing

Paid time off (PTO): Work stress as a potential moderator between workaholism and PTO usage

open access: yes, 2021
In the current study, the relationships between workaholism, work engagement, work stress, and paid time off (PTO) usage were examined. Previous studies indicate recovery from daily work stressors is necessary for continued success in work. Yet, in 2018,

Prediction model of PTO shaft fatigue damage considering sandy loam and loam in rotary-tillage operation

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Engineering
In this study, the fatigue damage to a power takeoff (PTO) shaft was evaluated under various operating conditions in rotary-tillage operations, considering soil strength and texture. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to identify the significant
