Technique considerations for implementing volumetric‐modulated arc therapy for total body irradiation within an Australian tertiary institution

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, Volume 72, Issue 1, Page 165-172, March 2025.
In 2020, our institution transitioned to the Eclipse™ treatment planning system and to Truebeam® linear accelerators with 6 MV and 10 MV energies. The linear accelerators were installed in smaller bunkers that could not accommodate 400 cm FAD. A multidisciplinary team within the institution was created to evaluate existing total body irradiation ...

Shift from inpatient to outpatient treatment in all age groups of anterior cruciate ligament surgery in Germany: An analysis of the public healthcare system

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) are among the most common orthopaedic diagnoses with severe short‐ and long‐term consequences for patients. The aim of the study was to analyze trends of inpatient and outpatient treatment of ACL injuries in Germany.

Development of Polioencephalomyelitis in Cesarean-Derived Colostrum-Deprived Pigs Following Experimental Inoculation with Either Teschovirus A Serotype 2 or Serotype 11

open access: yesViruses, 2017
Teschovirus encephalomyelitis is a sporadic disease associated with Teschovirus A (PTV) serotype 1 and, less frequently, other serotypes. In recent years, the number of cases submitted to the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory with a ...

Two novel porcine teschovirus strains as the causative agents of encephalomyelitis in the Netherlands

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2020
Background Porcine teschovirus (PTV) circulates among wild and domesticated pig populations without causing clinical disease, however neuroinvasive strains have caused high morbidity and mortality in the past.

Refining the boundaries of the nodal CTV in the middle neck for nasopharyngeal carcinoma

open access: yesPrecision Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
This study proposes fascial‐based optimizations for middle neck clinical target volume (CTV) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), excluding the para‐pharyngeal space (PPS) and adjusting boundaries to reduce radiation volume while ensuring at‐risk nodal coverage.

Robustness Evaluation of Physical versus Virtual Bolus for Breast VMAT Using RegGAN‐Based Synthetic CT

open access: yesPrecision Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
Utilizing RegGAN‐generated synthetic CTs, this study evaluates the dosimetric robustness of physical versus virtual bolus strategies in breast VMAT. Results indicate that the virtual bolus method provides comparable plan quality with superior robustness for target coverage homogeneity against daily anatomical variations.

Normal tissue complication probability models of late cardiopulmonary toxicity following deep inspiration breath hold for breast cancer adjuvant radiotherapy

open access: yesPrecision Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
Deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH) markedly cuts heart and left lung radiation doses during left‐sided breast cancer radiotherapy. The normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) model further confirms lower predicted cardiopulmonary toxicities versus free breathing (FB), potentially improving patients’ quality of life.
