Exclusive Breastfeeding Drives AMPK‐Dependent Thermogenic Memory in BAT and Promotes Long‐Term Metabolic Benefits in Offspring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Exclusive breastfeeding establishes a thermogenic memory in brown adipose tissue by activating the HIF1AN/AMPK/α‐ketoglutarate axis via milk‐derived extracellular vesicles enriched in miR‐125a‐5p. This programming preserves metabolic health, while αKG supplementation restores BAT function under mixed feeding, offering strategies to mitigate the ...

Single‐Cell RNA Sequencing of Human Lung Tissues Reveals Metallothionein‐Positive T Cells as a Novel Potential Marker of Susceptibility to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using single‐cell RNA sequencing of lung samples and flow cytometry of peripheral blood, we identified a novel T cell subset with high metallothionein (MT) expression. These MT‐high T cells suppress CD8+ T cell cytotoxicity and are progressively depleted from healthy controls to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients, positioning them as

Public Support for Innovation, Intangible Investment and Productivity Growth in the UK Market Sector [PDF]

open access: yes
Pressure on public finances has increased scrutiny of public support for innovation. We examine two particular issues. First, there have been many recent calls for the (relatively new) UK R&D subsidy to be extended to other “research” activities, such as

Decoding Human Placental Cellular and Molecular Responses to Obesity and Fetal Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Women with obesity often deliver large‐for‐gestational‐age (LGA) infants. Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing of term placenta reveals that hypoxia and TNF‐α signaling in syncytiotrophoblasts are featured in maternal obesity, but inflammatory signatures in Hofbauer cells and response to lipid or carbohydrate metabolism in fibroblasts are specific to LGA.

DEBT LIMITS AND ENDOGENOUS GROWTH [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper studies the consequences on growth and welfare of imposing limits to public borrowing. In the model economy, government spending may play two different roles, either as input in the production function, or providing services directly in the ...

Immune Predictors of Radiotherapy Outcomes in Cervical Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals dynamic immune remodeling in cervical cancer following radiotherapy. Single‐cell analysis identifies the C3/C3AR1 axis as a central mediator of epithelial–myeloid crosstalk, whose inhibition reduces treatment efficacy in mice. Guided by these insights, the eight‐feature machine‐learning model: Cervical Cancer Radiotherapy Immune ...

How does the composition of public spending matter? [PDF]

open access: yes
Public spending has effects which are complex to trace and difficult to quantify. But the composition of public expenditure has become the key instrument by which development agencies seek to promote economic development. In recent years, the development

Skeletal Muscle HSF1 Alleviates Age‐Associated Sarcopenia and Mitochondrial Function Decline via SIRT3‐PGC1α Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Aged HSF1 muscle‐specific knockout mice show deteriorated muscle atrophy and metabolic dysfunction, while active HSF1 overexpression improves muscle function via activating SIRT3 to deacetylate both PGC1α1 and PGC1α4, which boosts mitochondrial function and muscle hypertrophy in a fiber‐type specific manner, and induces FNDC5/Irisin for tissue ...

Public spending and poverty in Mozambique [PDF]

open access: yes
For poor countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, poverty reduction usually requires a combination of well-distributed economic growth and increased investment in human capital, especially among the poor.

Assessing the impact of a change in the composition of public spending: a DSGE approach [PDF]

open access: yes
Despite intense calls for safeguarding public investment in Europe, public investment expenditure, when measured in relation to GDP, has steadily fallen in the last three decades, evoking fears that economic activity may be correspondingly negatively ...
