Analysis of pulegone and its enanthiomeric distribution in mint-flavoured food products

open access: yesFood Additives and Contaminants, 2005
A procedure for the extraction and determination of pulegone enanthiomers in mint essential oils and mint products (syrups, dried leaves, toothpaste, lozenges, candy and chewing-gum) was developed.

Enantiospecific Effect of Pulegone and Pulegone-Derived Lactones on Myzus persicae (Sulz.) Settling and Feeding

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 2008
The effect of pulegone chiral center configuration on its antifeedant activity to Myzus persicae was examined. Biological consequences of structural modifications of (R)-(+)- and (S)-(-)-pulegone, the lactonization, iodolactonization, and incorporation of hydroxyl and carbonyl groups were studied, as well.

Effect of pulegone and pulegone oxide on the corrosion of steel in 1 M HCl

Monatshefte Für Chemie, 2008
The inhibitive action of pulegone and pulegone oxide toward acid corrosion of steel in molar hydrochloric acid was studied by weight loss measurements, potentiodynamic polarization, and impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The pulegone is extracted starting from oil of Pennyroyal Mint (Mentha pulegium).

The Aversive, Anxiolytic-Like, and Verapamil-Sensitive Psychostimulant Effects of Pulegone

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2014
We investigated the psychostimulant, rewarding, and anxiolytic-like effects of pulegone. Possible interactions between pulegone and menthol concerning their psychostimulant effect were also analyzed.

PHOTOCHEMISTRY OF FUKINONE AND PULEGONE

Chemistry Letters, 1972
Abstract Fukinone (I), a sesquiterpenic ketone containing a conjugated double bond in cisoid form, on photolysis in methanol solution gave methyl ester (III), stereoisomeric cyclobutanols (IVa and Va), and methyl ether (VI). Photolysis of pulegone (II), a monoterpenic analogue of I, afforded quite similar results.

Pulegone inhibits inflammation via suppression of NLRP3 inflammasome and reducing cytokine production in mice

Immunopharmacology and immunotoxicology, 2019
Context: Pulegone, a key compound in Schizonepeta essential oil, has been identified as an anti-inflammatory. However, its underlying molecular mechanisms on NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome have not been elucidated.

β-Cyclodextrin and its derivatives directed axial attack of hydride ion in the reduction of (R)-(+)-pulegone and (2S,5R)-(−)-menthone

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Catalysis A, 1996
Sodium borohydride reduction of CR)-( + )-pulegone and (2&5R)-( - )-menthone in aqueous alkali resulted in formation of cis-pulegol from pulegone and menthol from menthone, in larger proportions in the presence of derivatives of P-cyclodextrin (BCD ...

(R)-(+)-pulegone suppresses allergic and inflammation responses on 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene-induced atopic dermatitis in mice model.

Journal of dermatological science (Amsterdam), 2018
BACKGROUND (R)-(+)-pulegone (PLG), a biotransformation of monoterpene ketones, is one of essential oils of Labiatae family. Although PLG was reported to have anti-inflammatory and anti-histamine effects, the therapeutic effects of PLG on atopic ...

Favorskii rearrangement of the pulegone epoxides

Tetrahedron, 1967
Abstract The pulegone epoxide I, with sodium ethoxide in ethanol, gives as the major product, the ‘puleganolic’ acid III; similarly epoxide V gives the ‘puleganolic’ acid VII with the puleganolide IX. The major products obtained from epoxide I, in aqueous ethanol, are a ‘normal’ hydroxy acid XI together with III, and from epoxide V, a ‘normal ...
