A Misclassification of Pulmonary Stenosis Using Conventional Echocardiographic Methods

open access: yesBalkan Medical Journal, 2018
Background: The classification of pulmonary stenosis (PS) severity based on the transpulmonary pressure gradient, which is affected by flow rate. Case Report: We report the first case of a pregnant patient with atrial septal defect (ASD) and pulmonary ...

Dual-energy computed tomography-angiography in the evaluation and management of significant multiple pulmonary vein stenoses following atrial fibrillation ablation

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, 2020
A 58-year-old male patient with multi-vessel pulmonary vein (PV) stenosis following atrial fibrillation ablation was referred to a specialized pulmonary hypertension clinic. Chest dual-energy computed tomography (CT)-angiography allowed precise diagnosis

Isovolumic relaxation strain imaging is an accurate and sensitive approach for detection of active diastolic dysfunction: A preclinical study

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
A modified approach was developed to accurately identify the isovolumetric relaxation time (IVRT) using an apical three‐chamber view. Compared with conventional echocardiography, isovolumic relaxation strain imaging (IVSI) helps to detect the earlier alternations of diastolic function in transverse aortic constriction (TAC) mice.

Catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation : radiofrequency catheter ablation for redo procedures after cryoablation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of two different strategies using radiofrequency catheter ablation for redo procedures after cryoablation of atrial fibrillation. Methods: Thirty patients (paroxysmal atrial fibrillation: 22 patients, persistent atrial

Animal models of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Current animal models of CTEPH. Created using BioRender.com. Abstract Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare, yet life‐threatening disorder characterized by persistent pulmonary vascular obstruction and elevated pulmonary artery pressure, with progressive remodeling and subsequent right heart failure.

Immediate, Short, Intermediate and Long-Term Results of Balloon Valvuloplasty in Congenital Pulmonary Valve Stenosis

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2013
Transluminal balloon valvuloplasty is an alternative to surgical valvotomy for congenital pulmonary valve stenosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the long term results (to 13.5 years) of balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty.

Anesthetic management of peadiatric severe pulmonary stenosis for balloon valvotomy in non-operating room anesthesia: A case of 4 year old male child with severe pulmonary stenosis with peak pressure gradient of 120mmhg underwent balloon pulmonary valvotomy under general anesthesia in non-operating room anesthesia [PDF]

open access: yesSerbian Journal of Anesthesia and Intensive Therapy
Balloon pulmonary valvotomy is the treatment of choice in patients with isolated pulmonary stenosis and has shown good long-term results. It is generally considered a safe procedure with fewer complications. We report a case of 4-year-old male child with

Diaspirin cross-linked hemoglobin fails to improve left ventricular diastolic function after fluid resuscitation from hemorrhagic shock [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
In severe hemorrhagic shock, left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction is an early sign of cardiac failure due to compromised myocardial oxygenation.

From armadillos to sloths: Patterns and variations in xenarthran coronary anatomy

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Species of the superorder Xenarthra play a vital ecological role in the Neotropics. Despite their evolutionary significance, anatomical studies on their coronary circulation remain scarce. This study investigated the coronary anatomy of 82 hearts from nine Xenarthra species across the Dasypodidae, Myrmecophagidae, and Bradypodidae.
