Three cases of vasospastic angina following catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2017
Pulmonary vein isolation is an effective treatment for patients with atrial fibrillation (AF).Although vasospastic angina (VSA) is not a common complication after ablation of AF, we report 3 cases of VSA following ablation of persistent AF.

Signal reconstruction of pulmonary vein recordings using a phenomenological mathematical model: Application to pulmonary vein isolation therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This is the final version of the article. Available from Frontiers Media via the DOI in this record.Atrial fibrillation (AF), the most prevalent cardiac arrhythmia, is commonly initiated by ectopic beats originating from a small myocardial sleeve ...

Inhaled Angiopoietin‐Like 4 Antisense Oligonucleotide Therapy for Lung Injury and Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inhaled antisense oligonucleotides targeting ANGPTL4 attenuate inflammation, preserve barrier integrity, and reduce fibrosis in both infectious and sterile lung injury models. Integrated transcriptomic analysis reveals a conserved ANGPTL4‐regulated gene network coordinating hypoxic, inflammatory, apoptotic, and stress‐response pathways.

Detecting and monitoring arrhythmia recurrence following catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia prompting clinical presentation, is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The incidence and prevalence of this arrhythmia is expected to grow significantly in the coming decades.

Sleep Alters the Velocity of Physiological Brain Pulsations in Humans

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep alters I/CSF oscillatory flow, driven by increased respiratory (29%) and vasomotor pulsation (21%) velocities, while cardiovascular pulsations decreased by (22%). Velocity is quantified using optical flow analysis of MREG data. Spectral power increases alongside these pulsations (spatial correlation, r = 0.35 and r = 0.39, respectively ...

The usefulness of ventricular pacing during atrial fibrillation ablation in a persistent left superior vena cava: A case report

open access: yesIndian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal, 2018
A 69-year-old woman with palpitations was referred to our hospital for a second session of atrial fibrillation (AF) catheter ablation. She had a history of AF ablation including pulmonary vein (PV) isolation and persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC)

Isolated major aortopulmonary collateral as the sole pulmonary blood supply to an entire lung segment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Congenital systemic-to-pulmonary collateral arteries or major aortopulmonary collaterals are associated with cyanotic congenital heart disease with decreased pulmonary blood flow.

DRD2 Deficiency Underlies Pituitary Adenoma Dependent on Escherichia coli Translocation from the Gut

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dopamine receptor D2 (DRD2) deficiency disrupts epithelial barrier integrity in both the gut and pituitary gland, facilitating translocation of gut‐derived Escherichia coli into pituitary tissue. Intratumoral E. coli are phagocytosed by microglia, triggering GSDMD‐dependent pyroptosis and HMGB1 release, which subsequently activates MAPK signaling to ...

Concurrent assessment of time-to-isolation and temperature at 30 s as an innovative metric for predicting the persistence of pulmonary vein isolation using second-generation cryoballoons

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery
Background We attempted to establish correlations between intraoperative variables such as time-to-isolation (TTI) and temperature (T) at the 30-second mark, and the sustained efficacy of pulmonary vein isolation.
