Acoustic device and method for measuring gas densities [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Density measurements can be made in a gas contained in a flow through enclosure by measuring the sound pressure level at a receiver or microphone located near a dipole sound source which is driven at constant velocity amplitude at low frequencies ...

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Pulsating Flow and Platelet Aggregation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Platelet aggregation has been modelled as a nonlinear system of viscous flow and pulsating flow based on the Fogelson’s continuum model. By solving nonlinear governing equations and the coupling between flow and platelet aggregates in the cylindrical coordinates using the finite element method, we can see how the platelet aggregation forms under the ...

Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Experimental study on characteristics of fracture propagation in pulsating hydraulic fracturing with flow control

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
Pulsating hydraulic fracturing technology has demonstrated advantages such as lower initiation pressure and complex fracture networks in reservoir stimulation fields including gas extraction, shale gas development, and geothermal exploitation. Currently,
