Picosecond ionization dynamics in femtosecond filaments at high pressures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate the plasma dynamics inside a femtosecond-pulse-induced filament generated in an argon gas for a wide range of pressures up to 60 bar. At higher pressures, we observe ionization immediately following a pulse, with up to a threefold increase

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Association of pulse pressure with hematoma expansion in patients with spontaneous supratentorial intracerebral hemorrhage

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
ObjectiveRecent reports have demonstrated that a wider pulse pressure upon admission is correlated with heightened in-hospital mortality following spontaneous supratentorial intracerebral hemorrhage (ssICH).

Incidence of Peripheral Arterial Disease and Its Association with Pulse Pressure: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2017
BackgroundThe association of pulse pressure and peripheral arterial disease (PAD) has seldom been examined using a prospective design. This study aimed to investigate the association of pulse pressure with PAD incidence in an elderly general population ...

Blood Pressure Estimation by Photoplethysmogram Decomposition into Hyperbolic Secant Waves

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Photoplethysmographic (PPG) pulses contain information about cardiovascular parameters. In particular, blood pressure can be estimated using PPG pulse decomposition analysis, which assumes that a PPG pulse is composed of the original heart ejection blood

Long-pulse KrCl laser with a high discharge quality \ud [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The discharge quality and optimum pump parameters of a long-pulse high-pressure gas discharge excited KrCl laser are investigated. A three-electrode prepulse–mainpulse excitation circuit is employed as pump source.

Pressure Pulse in Small Arteries [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 1962
Pressure pulse contours have been obtained in the small mesenteric and intestinal arteries of the dog. The principal change in the pressure pulse during transmission from large to small arteries appeared to be the gradual and progressive development of damping. The pressure drop from the aorta to arteries of 200 µ internal diameter averaged 17 per cent

Composite pressure cell for pulsed magnets

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 2021
Extreme pressures and high magnetic fields can affect materials in profound and fascinating ways. However, large pressures and fields are often mutually incompatible; the rapidly changing fields provided by pulsed magnets induce eddy currents in the metallic components used in conventional pressure cells, causing serious heating, forces, and vibration.
