Digital pulse shape discrimination

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2007
Pulse-shape discrimination (PSD) has been utilised for about 40 years as a method to obtain estimates for dose in mixed neutron and photon fields. Digitizers that operate close to GHz are currently available at a reasonable cost, and they can be used to directly sample signals from photomultiplier tubes.

Pulse shape discrimination

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1964
Abstract A method for separating the scintillation signals from particles with different specific ionization is described which is relatively insensitive to signal amplitude. It is based upon a measurement of the zero-crossing time for signals produced by RC differentiation of dynode voltage pulses.

On pulse shape discrimination in anthracene

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1964
Abstract The pulse shape of scintillation pulses in anthracene crystal was investigated. The different charge distributions due to protons and electrons were measured as a function of the time of equal charge collection and energy.

A ratio pulse-shape discriminator

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1993
Abstract A simple pulse-shape discriminator has been designed to separate signals from a CsI(Na)/GSO phoswich detector. It can provide information on both the total energy deposited and the contribution of each crystal to that total, allowing a software veto to be used according to the distribution of the energy deposited. Test results show that even

A method for pulse shape discrimination

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1965
Abstract For some detectors the rise-time of the pulses depends on the kind of particles. By electronical differentiation of the detector pulses the moment at which the differentiated pulses cross the zero level is different for unequal rise times. These differences can be measured and yield informations about the kind of the particles.

A novel pulse shape discriminator

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1987
Abstract A novel pulse shape discriminator which compares the pulse shape against a preset shape is described. The scheme compares the shapes directly rather than using derived quantities like the rise time. The shape comparison is amplitude independent. Some results and waveforms using this discriminator are also presented.

A pulse shape discrimination circuit

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1972
Abstract An electronic circuit for the pulse shape analysis used for the discrimination of α -particles with energies down to 1.5 MeV against an intensive proton and gamma background is described.

Pulse shape discrimination

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1961
Abstract Pulse shape discrimination methods used up to the present are discussed, considering in particular to what extent the possibilities offered by the shape of the scintillation decay are being exploited. A new method is then described which utilizes in a statistically optimum way and by simplest means the information obtainable from the various

Pulse-shape discrimination in NE213 liquid scintillator detectors

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2013
The 16-channel fast stretcher BaFPro module, originally developed for processing signals of Barium Fluoride scintillators, has been modified to make a high performing analog pulse-shape analysis of signals from the NE213 liquid scintillators of the EDEN ...

Termination effect on pulse shape discrimination

2007 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium Conference Record, 2007
NE213 liquid scintillation detectors have been used in mixed radiation fields with great success due to their pulse shape discrimination (PSD) ability. Numerous PSD techniques using various analog equipments had been proposed and developed by various individuals in past years. A common method for PSD is to evaluate the fall-time of the voltage across a
