Ultrasmall High‐Entropy Materials: Nanoscale Effects, Synthesis, and Mechanistic Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review article focuses on sub‐10 nm high‐entropy materials that combine nanoscale design with complex compositions for next‐generation applications. ABSTRACT Ultrasmall high‐entropy nanomaterials (USHENMs, <10 nm) merge multicomponent chemistry with size‐dependent effects, forming a distinct class of materials with unprecedented properties.

Pulsed-field ablation versus radiofrequency ablation in patients undergoing repeat catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation

open access: yesHeart Rhythm O2
Background: Pulsed-field ablation (PFA) is noninferior compared with thermal energy sources such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA) or cryoballoon ablation for de novo pulmonary vein isolation (PVI).

Powering Nanocrystal‐Based Heat Engines With Light‐Emitting Metasurfaces That Influence Their Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurfaces and other structured photonic environments can dramatically modify the absorption and/or light emission of semiconductors. However, the consequences of these changes on the temperature of the system are not well understood. The authors address this problem for colloidal nanocrystals and leverage their findings to convert light into ...

Pulse Field Energy (of Dreams) – Is it the Future of Ablation?

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Cardiology
Catheter ablation is the cornerstone of management of cardiac arrhythmias. Thermal energy sources such as radiofrequency energy and cryoenergy have proven to be effective and safe for ablating myocardial tissue responsible for the initiation and maintenance of cardiac arrhythmias.

MXene Wrapped Magnetic Mesocrystals for Durable Redox Catalytic Cancer Therapy and Responsive MRI

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Conformal wrapping of ultrathin Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets on Fe3O4 mesocrystals creates topology‐stabilized Schottky junctions that direct photoinduced electron transfer under NIR irradiation. The unique architecture sustains Fenton catalysis, promotes continuous hydroxyl radical production, and provides photo‐responsive MRI contrast.

Application of Ibuprofen Sodium Dihydrate for Thermochemical Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ibuprofen sodium dihydrate is introduced as a durable organic salt hydrate for low‐temperature thermochemical energy storage, operating within 60°C–110°C with high energy density. At the material level, it delivers ∼99.9% cycling efficiency over 150 cycles without deliquescence, enabled by a dual energy‐storage mechanism coupling dehydration and phase ...
