Epicardial Connection as a Resource of Atrial Fibrillation Recurrence After Pulsed Field Ablation: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT This case highlights an uncommon but clinically important mechanism of atrial fibrillation recurrence after Pulsed field ablation. It emphasizes the importance of ablation along the ridge during the first session and also the need for careful evaluation of epicardial conduction, particularly in patients with a left common pulmonary vein.

Hydration and Structural Changes of Almonds During Water Treatment at Different Temperatures Investigated by MRI and NMR

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, Volume 128, Issue 10, October 2026.
MRI and NMR methods were employed to visualize and quantify hydration dynamics in almonds at different temperatures. The measurements reveal the penetration of a water front, an increase in almond volume, and the formation and subsequent closure of internal cavities, while enabling precise determination of the timescales over which these processes ...

Evaluation of Hemolysis Risk, Renal Function, and Safety Among Two Pulsed Field Ablation Systems: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 5, October 2026.
Pentaspline systems were associated with more pronounced laboratory markers of hemolysis, although clinically significant renal dysfunction remained uncommon and evidence regarding clinical consequences remains limited. ABSTRACT This study investigated the hemolysis risk, renal, and safety outcomes between two pulsed field ablation (PFA) systems.

Association Between the Change in Interleukin‐6 Levels and Early Recurrence of Atrial Fibrillation: A Comparison of Pulsed Field Ablation and Radiofrequency Ablation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 5, October 2026.
Despite causing greater myocardial injury and hemolysis, pulsed field ablation induces significantly less systemic inflammation than radiofrequency ablation. This reduced inflammatory response is independently associated with a lower incidence of early atrial fibrillation recurrence.

Successful Extensive Pulsed Field Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation Without Leadless Pacemaker Interference

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 5, October 2026.
Although Pulsed field ablation (PFA) has demonstrated efficacy for atrial fibrillation, its safety in patients with leadless pacemaker remains uncertain. This case suggests that extensive PFA involving persistent left superior vena cava, superior vena cava, and left atrial posterior wall can be safely performed without device interference.

Association Between Temperature Management Using Passive Thermal Insulation and a Modified Aldrete Score During Cryoablation of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation Under General Anesthesia

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 5, October 2026.
This study demonstrated that the Δ in core temperature was significantly lower in the Blanket (blue bar) group than in the Control (red bar) group and the passive thermal insulation using heat insulation blankets significantly decreased the rate of hypothermia‐induced unsuccessful early recovery from general anesthesia from 64% to 37%.
