Transient Flow-Induced Stress Investigation on a Prototype Reversible Pump–Turbine Runner
Pump–turbine units with high heads are subjected to strong pressure pulsations from the unsteady transient flow in fluid channels, which can produce severe vibrations and high stresses on the pump–turbine structural components.

Compressible Simulation of Rotor-Stator Interaction in Pump-Turbines [PDF]
This work investigates the influence of water compressibility on pressure pulsations induced by rotor-stator interaction (RSI) in hydraulic machinery, using the commercial CFD solver ANSYS-CFX. A pipe flow example with harmonic velocity excitation at the inlet plane is simulated using different grid densities and time step sizes.

Numerical analysis on pump turbine runaway points
To research the character of pump turbine runaway points with different guide vane opening, a hydraulic model was established based on a pumped storage power station. The RNG k-? model and SMPLEC algorithms was used to simulate the internal flow fields. The result of the simulation was compared with the test data and good correspondence was got between
