Special Pressure Fluctuation analyse of the pump turbine

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2021
Abstract In the 13th five-year planning, the pumped storage power stations have speeding up. A large number of pumped storage power stations will been installed. The current development of modern pump storage plants aims towards a higher flexibility and stability in operation, an extended operation range of the hydraulic machine.

Cavitation measurements on a pump-turbine model

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2015
When a hydraulic turbine is operated at off-design conditions, cavitation on the runner and other machine parts can occur. Vibration, noise and erosion caused by cavitation can damage the turbine and lead to a limitation of the operational range. To avoid damage of the turbine, it is fundamental to get knowledge of the presence of cavitation.

Numerical Predictions of Pressure Fluctuations in a Model Pump Turbine with Small Guide Vane Opening based on Partial Averaged Navier Stokes Approach

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2016
Comparing with conventional hydraulic turbine (e.g. Francis turbine), pump turbine shows significant unstable characteristics because its design is a compromise between a pump and a turbine.

The Influence of the Installation Angle of a Blade’s Low-Pressure Edge on the Cavitation Performance of Francis Pump-Turbines

open access: yesFluids
The low-pressure edge of a pump-turbine runner blade is more prone to cavitation than other parts. The installation angle of the blade’s low-pressure edge is one of the key parameters affecting the cavitation performance of the pump-turbine. Based on the

Failure investigation of a large pump-turbine runner [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering Failure Analysis, 2012
A failure investigation was conducted on a high-pressure machine with a large pump-turbine runner that was 2.9 m in diameter and had a maximum discharge rate of 32 m 3 /s. A part of the runner broke off during operation. This released a piece of the crown, which went through the machine, causing further damage. An analysis of the broken runner revealed
