Influence of Stirrup-Tie Shape on Inelastic Cyclic Response of Flanged Reinforced Concrete Flexural Members [PDF]
Three reinforced concrete flanged sections (T-sections) having different shapes of shear reinforcement were subjected to cyclic inelastic flexure representative of what framed structure members might-be forced to endure during a severe earthquake. The

Inelastic Behaviour of Hybrid Steel/Concrete Column-to-Flat Slab Assemblages
The use of tubular columns in conjunction with reinforced concrete flat slabs provides structurally efficient solutions which avoid undesirable failure modes such as those associated with shear.

ABSTRACT In vitro arterial models offer ethical and robust alternatives for vascular research but require cytocompatible materials that replicate physiological mechanics. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogels produced by directional freezing and salting‐out (PVA DFSO) are anisotropic yet lack stability for cell culture. Herein, methacrylated PVA (PVA‐MA)

A human microfluidic blood‐brain barrier (mBBB) model enables spatially resolved comparison of nanoparticle trafficking. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), liposomes, and nanoplastics exhibit distinct transport and disruption behaviors, revealing that membrane composition and uptake pathways govern BBB interaction.

3D Soft Hydrogels Induce Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells “Deep” Quiescence
Three‐dimensional soft hydrogels mimicking the bone marrow niche induce deep quiescence in human mesenchymal stem cells. Unlike 2D culture, 3D matrices halt proliferation, regulate cell‐cycle and quiescence markers, and downregulate mTORC1 signaling, preserving stem cell phenotype and therapeutic potential ex vivo.

Determination of the Punching Cross-Section of Reinforced Concrete Flat Slabs [PDF]
In this paper, the punching shear resistance of slabs without punching shear reinforcement is investigated. We assumed that the punching shear resistance can be characterized by the shear resistance of the concrete compression zone, and that the load ...

Scalable manufacturing challenges and limited potency remain two of the most intransigent issues limiting clinical translation of EV therapeutics. Mechanical cues can induce phenotypic changes and increased vesiculation in EV source cells without the use of extraneous reagents, chemicals, and/or cargo, thereby potentially drastically improving the ...

Experimental study of the high strain rate shear behaviour of Ti6Al4V [PDF]
Three different high strain rate shear test techniques are applied on the titanium alloy Ti6Al4V. Two techniques for testing of bulk materials and one technique for sheet materials are used: torsion of thin-walled tubes, compression of hat-shaped ...

The hydroporator platform employs controlled hydrodynamic deformation for efficient mRNA and CRISPR/Cas9 delivery into primary human T cells, enabling allogeneic CAR‐T cell manufacturing. It preserves cell functionality and drives potent gene editing, CAR expression, and tumor cytotoxicity, while feature‐based analysis links these functional outcomes ...

Effect of marginal beams on the punching shear capacity of concrete slabs at exterior columns
It is common in concrete flat plate construction to connect the exterior columns with marginal, or edge, beams. In addition to the benefit gained from marginal beams in stiffening the slab edges and supporting the concentrated loads on the slab edge ...
