Interaction of Oligonucleotides with Gold Nanoparticles: Factors Beyond Electrostatic and Van‐Der Waals Forces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The formation of stable clusters of gold nanoparticles with oligonucleotides at different solution conditions is explored. DNA base homogeneity and strand directionality influence the binding with gold nanoparticles leading to interesting clustering behavior that can be relevant for SERS applications.

Multi‐Scale Modeling of a 3D Soft Magnetoelectric Patch for Wireless Nerve Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Core‐shell, magnetoelectric nanoparticles (MENPs) can serve as wireless electric nano‐sources, thanks to their ability to generate high levels of electricity, when stimulated by a human‐safe external magnetic field. By combining MENPs with soft, biocompatible polymeric matrices and optimizing its composite configuration and electrical behavior via ...

Deterministic Dynamics and Chaos: Epistemology and Interdisciplinary Methodology [PDF]

open access: yesInterdisciplinaria, Vol. 28, Nr. 2, pp. 279 - 298, 2012, 2011
We analyze, from a theoretical viewpoint, the bidirectional interdisciplinary relation between mathematics and psychology, focused on the mathematical theory of deterministic dynamical systems, and in particular, on the theory of chaos. On one hand, there is the direct classic relation: the application of mathematics to psychology.

AFM‐Based Functional Tomography – To Mill or Not to Mill, that is the Question!

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Complex networks of conducting domain wall interfaces exist hidden underneath the surface of ferroelectric hexagonal manganites. It reveals the morphology and conductive properties directly by 3D tomographic atomic force microscopy. It correlates the measured surface level conductance with subsurface domain wall structure, and discuss the existence ...
