The DYRK Family: A Key Regulator of Metabolic Homeostasis and Its Therapeutic Potential in Kidney Diseases

open access: yesMedComm – Future Medicine
The dual‐specificity tyrosine‐regulated kinase (DYRK) family, a conserved serine/threonine kinase group, plays a pivotal role in the regulation of metabolic homeostasis by modulating glucose/lipid metabolism, oxidative stress, and calcium‐phosphorus ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Purification and characterization of two different a-L-Rhamnosidases, RhaA and RhaB, from Aspergillus aculeatus

open access: yes, 2001
Two proteins exhibiting -L-rhamnosidase activity, RhaA and RhaB, were identified upon fractionation and purification of a culture filtrate from Aspergillus aculeatus grown on hesperidin.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Proteolytic hydrolysis and purification of the LRP/alfa-2-macroglobulin receptor domain from alpha-macroglobulins

open access: yes, 2007
A new, easier and efficient purification method, using Sephacryl and DEAE-Sephacel, of the C-terminal fragment of two alpha-macroglobulins, alpha(2)-M and PZP, is presented. Two larger peptides were identified for each protein as the C-terminal fragment,

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Expression, purification and characterisation of protoporphyrinogen oxidases from diverse species

open access: yes, 2000
Bibliography: leaves 163-203.This work involved the characterisation of protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO), the penultimate enzyme in haem biosynthesis, from Bacillus subtilis, Myxococcus xanthus, and human. A defect in human PPO causes variegate porphyria,

Characterizing natural separation and purification during rural polluted water self-purification in the Dashi River: a multidimensional approach to DOM and microbial interactions

open access: yes
The self-purification capacity of rivers, a natural analog to engineered separation processes, mitigates pollutants through complex physicochemical and biological interactions.
