Integrating Genome-Wide Association Study with Transcriptomic Analysis to Predict Candidate Genes Controlling Storage Root Flesh Color in Sweet Potato

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
Sweet potato is a hexaploid heterozygote with a complex genetic background, self-pollination infertility, and cross incompatibility, which makes genetic linkage analysis quite difficult.

Powdered hibiscus anthocyanin‐nanofibril complexes as natural colourants: Stability and application in yoghurt and soft candy

open access: yesColoration Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract The instability of anthocyanins limits their application as natural food colorants. This study aimed to enhance the stability of anthocyanins extracted from Hibiscus sabdariffa through copigmentation with protein nanofibrils produced from pea, rice, gluten and whey isolates. Linear and curly nanofibril structures were prepared and incorporated

Reconfiguring biofortification strategies to transform food systems and address micronutrient deficiency of the 21st century

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
This review explores how to make staple foods and horticultural crops more nutritious, including how artificial intelligence‐based screening of gene banks helps deploy nutritionally rich germplasm into breeding. Genome editing can help develop crops richer in minerals, vitamins, and health‐promoting compounds, supporting healthier diets and more ...

Impact of the invasive diatom species Cymbella janischii on riverine microbial biofilm communities and a potential role of bacterially produced zeatin

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract The diatom Cymbella janischii is an invasive species in Japan, causing nuisance blooms by forming thick mats in rivers. To date, there are no documented studies on the microbiome associations in C. janischii mats or the processes that drive bloom formation.

From Odors to Colors: Sensory Perception in Neurodiverse Mexican Youth

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Previous work has shown that humans make consistent associations between odor and color. However, neurodiverse individuals, especially those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), perceive and interpret sensory information differently from their neurotypical peers.

Simultaneous Determination of Major Anthocyanins in Purple Sweet Potato

open access: yesNippon Shokuhin Kagaku Kogaku Kaishi, 2007

Texture Engineering of Nondairy Yogurt Alternatives: Ingredient Selection, Processing Strategies, and the Role of In Situ Dextrans

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT A global shift from diets rich in animal‐based products toward plant‐based diets has been widely promoted as a key strategy for creating more sustainable food systems. However, the adoption of plant‐based alternatives depends on multiple factors, including consumer preferences, sensory quality, product affordability, and availability, in ...
