Engineering Photonic Pigments From Titania–Block Copolymer Composites

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 47, Issue 19, 6 October 2026.
Ligand‐functionalized TiO2 nanoparticles selectively partition into P2VP‐rich lamellae of onion‐like PS‐b‐P2VP microspheres, increasing refractive index contrast while preserving concentric order through controlled self‐assembly. The resulting dry photonic pigments display defined Bragg reflections and angle‐robust structural color.

Antimicrobial and Antibiofilm Activity of an Endophytic Fungus, Daldinia sp. Isolated From Avicennia officinalis

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
An endophytic fungus (Daldinia sp.) was isolated from the leaves of Avicennia officinalis collected from mangrove forests of Goa. The ethyl acetate extract of Avicennia officinalis (AO‐EA) of the identified endophyte demonstrated antibacterial and antibiofilm activity against Escherichia coli and Shigella sp.

Lanthanide Nanoparticles With Dual Enzyme Mimetic Activities for Targeted Treatment of Gram‐Negative Bacterial Infections

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Gram‐negative (G−) bacterial infections, fueled by intrinsic antibiotic resistance stemming from their unique outer membrane architecture, pose a critical global clinical challenge. This study introduces a pioneering dual‐enzyme‐mimetic nanotherapy based on NaYbF4 nanoparticles (NaYbF4 NPs) that achieves synergistic antibacterial and anti ...

fishmax: An R package for Bayesian estimation of maximum body size in animals

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 10, Page 2854-2861, October 2026.
Abstract Maximum body size is a key trait of an animal species, determining its population dynamics, productivity and interactions with other species and the environment. For fish in particular, the maximum body length or Lmax correlates strongly to other life history parameters and is commonly used in ecological models and population assessments. Lmax

Fleet Behaviour Under Economic Uncertainty: Multi‐Species Policy Scenarios for the Purse‐Seine Fishery

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 5, Page 907-917, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Managing fishing effort remains a central challenge in achieving sustainability in many fisheries, particularly where high‐value species attract intense competition. In the Indian Ocean tropical tuna fishery, understanding how fishers respond to changing bio‐economic conditions is essential for developing effective management.
