Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Examination of the relationship between the Groffman Visual Tracing test and Smooth Pursuit test: a cross-sectional analysis

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Otolaryngology
Purpose Smooth Pursuit and Groffman Visual Tracing (GVT) tests are tracking tests used to evaluate oculomotor processes. This study aims to investigate the relationship between GVT and the Smooth Pursuit test, which assesses various aspects of oculomotor

Calibration-free gaze interfaces based on linear smooth pursuit

open access: yesJournal of Eye Movement Research, 2020
Since smooth pursuit eye movements can be used without calibration in spontaneous gaze interaction, the intuitiveness of the gaze interface design has been a topic of great interest in the human-computer interaction field.

Anticipatory smooth eye movements in autism spectrum disorder. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Smooth pursuit eye movements are important for vision because they maintain the line of sight on targets that move smoothly within the visual field. Smooth pursuit is driven by neural representations of motion, including a surprisingly strong influence ...

Random Filters for Compressive Sampling and Reconstruction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We propose and study a new technique for efficiently acquiring and reconstructing signals based on convolution with a fixed FIR filter having random taps.

Accuracy of eye position for saccades and smooth pursuit

open access: yesJournal of Vision, 2016
In this study, we address the question of whether a target is foveated during smooth pursuit. Specifically, we examine whether smooth pursuit eye movements land near the center-of-mass of the target, as is the case for saccades.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Effects of smooth pursuit and second‐order stimuli on visual motion prediction

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2021
The purpose of this study was to determine whether smooth pursuit eye movements affect visual motion prediction using a time‐to‐contact task where observers anticipate the exact instant that a partially occluded target would coincide with a stationary ...

Analog VLSI-Based Modeling of the Primate Oculomotor System [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
One way to understand a neurobiological system is by building a simulacrum that replicates its behavior in real time using similar constraints. Analog very large-scale integrated (VLSI) electronic circuit technology provides such an enabling technology ...
