Characterization of Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome Caused by Hantaviruses, Estonia

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2007
Thirty cases of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) due to Puumala virus (PUUV), Saaremaa virus (SAAV), and Dobrava virus infection were confirmed in Estonia. Except for the levels of serum creatinine, no remarkable differences were found in the

Puumala Hantavirus Excretion Kinetics in Bank Voles (Myodes glareolus)

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2008
Puumala hantavirus is present in bank voles (Myodes glareolus) and is believed to be spread mainly by contaminated excretions. In this study, we subcutaneously inoculated 10 bank voles with Puumala virus and sampled excretions until day 133 postinfection.

Seoul Virus Infection in Humans, France, 2014–2016

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2017
We report detection of Seoul virus in 3 patients in France over a 2-year period. These patients accounted for 3 of the 4 Seoul virus infections among 434 hantavirus infections (1.7%) reported during this time. More attention should be given to this virus

Comparative Characteristics of Inactivation Agents for HFRS Vaccine Development

open access: yesЭпидемиология и вакцинопрофилактика, 2018
The results of various methods of Puumala virus inactivation, including ultraviolet rays (UV), β -propiolactone (BPL) and formalin are presented. Immunogenicity of vaccine preparations obtained using these virus inactivation methods did not differ ...

A highly divergent Puumala virus lineage in southern Poland

open access: yesArchives of Virology, 2017
Puumala virus (PUUV) represents one of the most important hantaviruses in Central Europe. Phylogenetic analyses of PUUV strains indicate a strong genetic structuring of this hantavirus. Recently, PUUV sequences were identified in the natural reservoir, the bank vole (Myodes glareolus), collected in the northern part of Poland.
