Dependence of structure of dehydrated PVA on the crystallinity of the original PVA
Journal of Polymer Science: Polymer Chemistry Edition, 1975AbstractPoly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) films having different crystallinities were prepared by elongating PVA films to different degrees and heating the films with and without elongation treatment at several temperatures between 60 and 200°C. Then, they were dehydrated by heating from 80°C to 230 or 330°C in hydrogen chloride gas.

In this paper, we present PVA, an adaptive personal view information agent system to track, learn and manage, user's interests in Internet documents. When user's interests change, PVA, in not only the contents, but also in the structure of user profile, is modified to adapt to the changes. Experimental results show that modulating the structure of user

On characteristics of PVA/CdS and PVA/CdS:Cu nanocomposites for applications as LED
Journal of Luminescence, 2013Abstract We report the synthesis of poly vinyl alcohol/cadmium sulphide (PVA/CdS) and polyvinyl alcohol/cadmium sulphide:copper (PVA/CdS:Cu) nanocomposites by chemical route. Characterizations are done by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high resolution transmission electron ...

Biodegradation of PVA‐based formulations
Macromolecular Symposia, 1999AbstractInvestigation of the biodegradability of water soluble poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) based blown films was carried out under different lab‐scale environmental conditions. In particular respirometric tests were utilized in order to evaluate the biodegradability of PVA films in composting, in modified Sturm test and in soil burial simulation tests ...

The polyvinyl acetate (PVA) adhesives are most effectively used in simple high volume applications, and they are at a disadvantage only where evaporation of water is difficult, or where faster drying must be achieved. The most significant materials present in a PVA adhesive are polyvinyl acetate, stabilizers, plasticizers, and water.

Thrombin and albumin adsorption to PVA and heparin–PVA hydrogels. 2: Competition and displacement
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1993AbstractThrombin adsorption to polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was different from its adsorption to polyethylene (PE)—not so much in amount, but in its affinity. Thrombin was more easily displaced from polyethylene and its adsorption was more readily prevented by prior or simultaneous exposure to albumin.

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-utilizing Sphingopyxis sp. 113P3 (re-identified from Sphingomonas sp. 113P3) removed almost 0.5% PVA from culture supernatants in 4 days. Faster degradation of 0.5% PVA was performed by the periplasmic fraction. The average molecular size of PVA in the culture supernatant or cell-bound PVA was gradually shifted higher ...

Effect of PVA concentration on bond modifications in PVA-PMMA blend films
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2016The optical properties of poly (methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) polymer are found to be modified when PVA molecules are added in the matrix of PMMA and vice versa making a blend. The concentrations studied were kept low to preserve the original properties of the host.
