A small-volume PVTX system for broadband spectroscopic calibration of downhole optical sensors

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2017
An instrument is presented that is capable of measuring the optical spectrum (long-wave ultraviolet through short-wave mid-infrared) of fluids under a range of temperature and pressure conditions from ambient pressure up to 138 MPa (20 000 psi) and 422 K (300 °F) using ∼5 ml of fluid. Temperature, pressure, and density are measured in situ in real-time,

Modeling the PVTx Behavior of the N-Methylpyrrolidinone/Water Mixed Solvent

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2004
An experimental setup for the measurement of densities for the compressed liquid phase of the N-methylpyrrolidinone/water binary solvent from 278.15 to 358.15 K over the full composition range and for pressures up to 60 MPa is reported. Experimental measurements were performed with a recently developed high-pressure vibrating-tube densitometer; the ...

PVTx properties in the gas phase for binary R-125/143a system

Fluid Phase Equilibria, 1998
Abstract The mixture of pentafluoroethane (R-125) and 1,1,1-trifluoroethane (R-143a) is a promising alternative for the conventional refrigerant R-502. In this paper, we present 220 PVTx property measurements of this binary system along four isopleths in the gas phase which were performed by an established Burnett apparatus.

PVTx measurements for N2O+CH3F, N2O+CH2F2, and N2O+CHF3 binary systems

Fluid Phase Equilibria, 2005
Abstract Isochoric PVTx measurements have been performed for the binary system of nitrous oxide + CH 3 F (R41), +CH 2 F 2 (R32), and +CHF 3 (R23) using a new experimental set-up. The experiments covered both the two-phase region and the superheated vapor region and were performed within the temperature range 214–358 K and within a pressure range ...

Gaseous pVTx measurements for (HFC134a + HC290) by a compact single-sinker densimeter

The Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 2015
Abstract Comprehensive gaseous pVTx measurements for {1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (HFC134a) + propane (HC290)} were carried out by a compact single-sinker densimeter, based on the Archimedes’ buoyancy principle, at temperatures from (258 to 294) K, pressures up to 0.86 MPa, and mole fractions of HFC134a from (0.2391 to 0.7989).

PVTx Properties of Gaseous Mixtures of Difluoromethane and 1,1,1,2,3,3,3-Heptafluoropropane

Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 2007
Mixtures of difluoromethane (HFC-32) and 1,1,1,2,3,3,3-heptafluoropropane (HFC-227ea) are promising alternative refrigerants; however, there is currently no available published experimental PVTx data. The gaseous PVTx properties of HFC-32 (1) + HFC-227ea (2) mixtures were measured using the Burnett-isochoric method with 251 data sets obtained for ...

PVTx Measurements for a H2O + Methanol Mixture in the Subcritical and Supercritical Regions

International Journal of Thermophysics, 2004
PVTx relationships for a H2O + CH3OH mixture (0.36 mole fraction of methanol) were measured in a range of temperatures from 373 to 673 K and pressures between 0.042 and 90.9 MPa. The density ranged from 37.76 to 559.03 kg · m−3. Measurements were made with a constant-volume piezometer surrounded by a precision thermostat.

PVTx‐Properties and virial coefficients of the water‐n‐hexane system

Berichte der Bunsengesellschaft für physikalische Chemie, 1994
AbstractPVTx‐data for the water‐n‐hexane system are reported in this paper. The data cover a temperature range from 523 to 623 K and pressure range from 2 to 16 MPa at different concentrations. The low pressure compressibility measurements were used to determine second and third virial coefficients for the water‐n‐hexane system.

PVTx measurements for H2O+D2O mixtures in the near-critical and supercritical regions

The Journal of Supercritical Fluids, 2003
Abstract The PVTx relationships of H 2 O+D 2 O mixtures were measured in the near-critical and supercritical regions. Measurements were made using a constant-volume piezometer immersed in a precision thermostat. The volume of the piezometer V PT was corrected for both temperature and pressure expansions.

Measurements of gas phase PVTx properties for the ternary HFC-161/125/32 system

Fluid Phase Equilibria, 2006
Abstract As one of the promising alternative refrigerants to replace HCFC-22, the gas phase PVTx properties of the ternary mixture HFC-161/125/32 have been studied. A total of 140 gas phase PVTx properties for the ternary system was obtained at nine different compositions by using the isochoric method.
