Modeling Pyran Formation in the Molybdenum Cofactor: Protonation of Quinoxalyl–Dithiolene Promoting Pyran Cyclization [PDF]

open access: yesInorganic Chemistry, 2019
Mononuclear Mo and W enzymes require a unique ligand known as molybdopterin (MPT). This ligand binds the metal through a dithiolene chelate, and the dithiolene bridges a reduced pyranopterin group. Pyran scission and formation have been proposed as a reaction of the MPT ligand that may occur within the enzymes to adjust reactivity at the Mo atom.

On the Regioselectivity of the Nickel-Catalyzed Insertion of Alkynes into the Carbon-Carbon Bond of Oxetan-3-one [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The study of the regioselectivity of insertion of unsymmetrical alkynes into the carbon–carbon bond of oxetan-3-one in the presence of a nickel catalyst has revealed a strong directing effect of a 2-thienyl substituent.

Computational Study on Potentially Active Antibacterial Compounds in Secondary Metabolites of Extremophilic Microorganisms

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
This study employed density functional theory (DFT) and conceptual DFT (CDFT) to calculate the structures and properties of potential antibacterial compounds derived from 16‐membered lactone ring‐containing secondary metabolites of extremophiles, as well as midecamycin.

Microwave‐Assisted Organic Syntheses in Deep Eutectic Solvents: A Win‐Win Association for Sustainable Chemistry

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
In organic synthesis, deep eutectic solvents (DES) have demonstrated their ability to be used as reaction media for the development of reactions in line with green chemistry principles. This review presents an overview of microwave‐assisted organic synthesis in DES, highlighting the diversity of uses for these solvents, their role in mechanisms, the ...

The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1697-1716, April 2025.
In the time frame 2018–2023, around 43% of the 35 chiral agrochemicals introduced to the market (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, acaricides, and nematicides) contain one or more stereogenic centers in the molecule, and almost 69% of them have been marketed as racemic mixtures of enantiomers or stereoisomers.

Materials modeling and development for use in double-exposure lithography applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The current optical photolithography technology is approaching the physical barrier to the minimum achievable feature size. To produce smaller devices, new resolution enhancement technologies must be developed.

The Volatile Pentadecane From Bacillus Alleviates Plant Iron Deficiency Through Activating the Reduction‐Based Fe Uptake System

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Iron (Fe) is an essential micronutrient for plant growth and development. Rhizosphere microorganisms play crucial roles in plant Fe nutrition, yet the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. Here, we assessed the effect of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) produced by Bacillus velezensis SQR9 on Fe uptake in Arabidopsis, elucidated ...
