Mitochondrially targeted ceramides preferentially promote autophagy, retard cell growth, and induce apoptosis

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2011
C6-pyridinium (d-erythro-2-N-[6′-(1′′-pyridinium)-hexanoyl]sphingosine bromide [LCL29]) is a cationic mitochondrion-targeting ceramide analog that promotes mitochondrial permeabilization and cancer cell death.

The neurotoxicity of pyridinium metabolites of haloperidol

open access: yesPostępy Higieny i Medycyny Doświadczalnej, 2015
Haloperydol is a butyrophenone, typical neuroleptic agent characterized as a high antipsychotics effects in the treatment of schizophrenia and in palliative care to alleviation many syndromes, such as naursea, vomiting and delirium. Clinical problems occurs during and after administration of the drug are side effects, particularly extrapyrramidal ...

Shedding Light on Synthetic Autocatalysis: From Conventional Closed‐Shell Chemistries to Overlooked Open‐Shell Occurrences

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Why add another catalyst when the product itself holds the power to catalyze its own formation? Autocatalysis in synthetic chemistry enhances reaction efficiency and uncovers novel catalytic behavior across both closed‐shell and open‐shell systems, expanding reactivity and enabling innovative design strategies.

Total Syntheses of Agelamadin F and (±)‐Tauroacidin A, Enabled by NaClO2‐Mediated Coupling Reactions of Oroidin and Amines

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Total syntheses of agelamadin F and (±)‐tauroacidin A were achieved by sodium chlorite (NaClO2)‐mediated oxidative C─N coupling. Nine C15–N–amino acid‐substituted oroidin derivatives were successfully prepared to demonstrate the applicability and versatility of this oxidative coupling reaction.

Bioinspired Design and Synthesis of Polyphenolic Star‐Like and Hyperbranched Polyester Models

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Gallotannin‐inspired star‐like and hyperbranched aromatic polyesters were synthesized from D‐glucose and ABn‐type phenolic acid monomers, such as protocatechuic acid. This bioinspired approach afforded polyphenolic polymeric nanoparticles able to encapsulate hydrophobic dyes, opening new perspectives for biobased encapsulation and delivery systems ...

Photosensitizing Au(I) Catalysis With Coumarins

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A Au(I) complex with a tethered coumarin fragment was synthesized and characterized by UV‐vis and emission spectroscopy. Its ability to facilitate photo‐driven cross‐coupling reactions through single‐electron and energy transfer events was evaluated. ABSTRACT Gold catalysis shows versatility in a wide range of challenging transformations, wherein light‐

Single‐Step Synthesis of Dithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐e]Pyridines and Their Acid‐Dependent Optical and Photosensitising Properties

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The synthesis of dithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐e]pyridines (DTPs) is herein reported, and their optical properties are studied both experimentally and computationally. Protonation or methylation of the nitrogen atom induced bathochromic shifts in their absorption and emission spectra.
