Selective photo labeling of tryptophan in N‐acetyl‐L‐tryptophan ethyl ester and peptide WWCNDGR with a diaryl nitrenium ion

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Visible light photolysis of a N‐(N,N‐diarylaminopyridinium) salt allows for covalent modification of a peptide. Mass spectrometry demonstrates that this procedure selectively labels tryptophan residues. Laser flash photolysis experiments show that bond formation occurs via a diarylnitrenium ion intermediate.

Poly(pyridinium salt)s with Organic Counterions Derived from 3,3′-dimethylnaphthidine: Thermal, Liquid Crystalline, and Optical Properties

open access: yes, 2015
A poly(pyridinium salt) was synthesized from 4,4′-(1,4-phenylene)bis(2,6-diphenylpyrilium)tosylate and 3,3′-dimethylnaphthidine. Tosylate counterion was exchanged with other organic counterions such as triflimide, 1-napthalenesulfonate, and 2 ...

Heart‐Specific Spinal and Vagal Afferents: Transcriptomic Signatures and Optogenetically Modulated Functional Coupling With Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 4, August 2026.
Selective purification of heart‐specific spinal and vagal sensory neurons by retrograde labeling and FACS purification showed enhanced spontaneous, optogenetic, and chemically stimulated Ca2+ activity. Transcriptomic profiling identified distinct ion channel and GPCR signatures in heart‐specific sensory neurons.

Modified Fry Cyanation of a Chiral Pyridinium Salt: Asymmetric Syntheses of (-)-Coniine and (-)-Solenopsin A

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceThe synthesis of chiral 2-cyano-Δ4-tetrahydropyridine 5 was carried out in 85 % yield through a modified two-step Fry reductive cyanation of pyridinium salt (+)-3c that used lithium triethylborohydride as the hydride donor.

4,4′-Bipyridine-1,1′-diium tetrachloridodifluoridostannate(IV) monohydrate

open access: yesIUCrData
In the title hydrated salt, (C10H10N2)[SnF2Cl4]·H2O, the dihedral angle between the pyridinium rings in the cation is 40.5 (4)° and the F atoms in the octahedral complex anion have a cis disposition [F—Sn—F = 85.32 (17)°].

A Proline‐Integrated Donor–Acceptor Fluorophore: Water‐Vapor‐Responsive Mechanochromic Luminescence and Latent Fingerprint Visualization

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 25, 3 July 2026.
A proline‐integrated donor–acceptor fluorophore enables multifunctional luminescence through rational molecular design. Water‐vapor‐responsive mechanochromic luminescence (MCL) with circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) switching and efficient visualization of latent fingerprints (LFPs) are realized from this single small organic molecule.
