Structural and Spectroscopic Evidence of Hydrogen Bonded Anionic Wires in Protic Ionic Liquids
ChemPhysChem, Volume 27, Issue 19, 14 October 2026.Anionic wires of deprotonated carboxylic acids challenge the general wisdom that like charges repel. The hydrogen bond motif observed in the X‐ray structure is even preserved in the liquid state of the material as shown by δ1H NMR spectroscopy. The experimental and theoretical findings provide deep insight into the nature of hydrogen bonding.
