Pyridoxine‐Responsive Anaemias

British Journal of Haematology, 1965
Patients with sideroblastic anaemia do not respond to iron or other common haematinics. Since the first report by Harris, Whittington, Weisman and Horrigan (1956) on ‘Pyridoxine‐Responsive Anemia in the Human Adult’, 30 additional cases have been reported in the literature (Gehrmann, 1963).The problem presented by these pyridoxine‐responsive anaemias ...

Pyridoxine Deficiency With Phenelzine

Southern Medical Journal, 1984
Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) deficiency developed in two young men treated with phenelzine. Alleviation of symptoms possibly associated with this deficiency and correction of subnormal serum B6 levels occurred with the administration of pyridoxine. With the increased use of phenelzine, all physicians should be alert to this potential problem and instruct ...

AN ANTILACTOGENIC EFFECT OF PYRIDOXINE

BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1973
SummaryThe efficacy of pyridoxine in the suppression of lactation has been tested in a placebo‐controlled, double‐blind trial of 253 puerperal patients. Ninety‐five per cent of the women treated with pyridoxine had their lactation successfully suppressed within one week, compared to 83 per cent for stilboestrol and 17 per cent for the placebo.

HOMOCYSTINURIA TREATED WITH PYRIDOXINE

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1982
Four cases of homocystinuria with lens luxation have been examined. As judged from the plasma amino acid pattern, they all responded well on pyridoxine treatment. Two of them discontinued the treatment on their own, and one of these died at the age of 17 years. The lens luxation progressed in one case despite adequate treatment.

Use of Pyridoxine in Chorea

American Journal of Psychiatry, 1971
Dyskinesias secondary to L-dopa often appear similar to Huntington`s disease and to the tardive dyskinesias that are associated with prolonged use of phenothiazines. Pyridoxine can reverse dyskinesias and benefits of L-dopa. A group of patients with Huntington's disease or tardive dyskinesias was treated with pyridoxine, but no change in their ...
