ABSTRACT Objective The NLRP3 inflammasome is a damage sensor driving pyroptotic cell death during orthodontic tooth movement (OTM). Recent studies have revealed impaired one‐week OTM in mice lacking NLRP3. However, the relevance of NLRP3 during long‐term OTM remains unknown.

Familial Mediterranean Fever is an autosomal recesively inherited, autoinflammatory disease characterized by inflammatory episodes. The prevalance of disease is 1:1000 in Turkey. The drug of choice for the disease is colchicine which both relieves the patient from episodes and prevents late complications like amyloidosis.
