Ramalin Ameliorates Alzheimer's Disease Pathology by Targeting BACE1, HDAC6, and MAPK Pathways

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
Ramalin alleviates Alzheimer's disease pathology by selectively inhibiting HDAC6, reducing BACE1 levels, and suppressing neuroinflammation through downregulation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and iNOS. It restores synaptic function impaired by Aβ toxicity and improves cognitive performance in AD mouse models, APP/PS1 and 3xTg‐AD.

Anti‐Inflammatory Properties of Ripe and Unripe Papaya Pectin in a Neonatal Human Stem Cell‐Derived Ileum Model

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study tested pectin from ripe and unripe papayas on a neonatal human stem cell‐derived intestinal model, with and without commensal Escherichia coli (E. coli). Both pectins improved cell health and reduced IL‐6, but only unripe pectin lowered IL‐8.

β‐Hydroxybutyrate Acts as an Exercise Mimetic to Protect the Aging Liver

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2026.
β‐hydroxybutyrate (β‐HB) acts as an exercise mimetic to protect the aging liver. In aged models, exercise‐induced β‐HB delays liver aging by reversing macrophage senescence, blocking mtDNA/cGAS‐STING‐driven inflammation, and alleviating hepatocyte lipid deposition/PANoptosis.

Comparing Functional Consequences of Human iPSC‐Microglia and Neural Stem Cell‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles in Mitigating Cognitive Decline in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2026.
Systemic (retro‐orbital vein) recurrent injections of human iPSC‐microglia and neural stem cell‐derived extracellular vesicles in a 5xFAD mouse model of Alzheimer's disease significantly improve cortex‐dependent cognitive function, reduce amyloid beta plaques, mitigate microglial and astrocytic activation, deliver neuroprotective miRNA cargo, and ...

Integrated biomarker landscape for the early detection and management of calcific aortic valve disease

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 56, Issue 1, January 2026.
Calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD), the leading valvular disorder in older adults, progresses from sclerosis to severe stenosis without effective medical therapies, making early non‐invasive detection essential. Circulating and mechanistic biomarkers reflect core pathogenic axes, including lipid oxidation, inflammation, mineral metabolism ...
