Pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate reduced experimental periodontitis

European Journal of Pharmacology, 2006
Nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB) is a transcription factor which plays a pivotal role in the induction of genes involved in physiological processes as well as in the response to injury and inflammation. Dithiocarbamates are antioxidants which are potent inhibitors of NF-kappaB.

Pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate reduces lung reperfusion injury

Journal of Surgical Research, 2003
The inflammatory cascade has emerged as the primary mediator of reperfusion injury. Nuclear factor kappaB (NF-kappaB) is a rapid response transcription factor that activates genes responsible for the mediators of inflammation. Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) has been shown to protect against lung injury.

PROTECTION AGAINST KAINATE NEUROTOXICITY BY PYRROLIDINE DITHIOCARBAMATE

Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, 2004
Summary1. The effect of pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC) on kainate (KA)‐induced neurotoxicity was examined in Sprague‐Dawley rats.2. At 10 mg/kg, i.p., KA produced seizures accompanied by neuronal loss in the hippocampus and increased levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and protein carbonyl.3.
